Would be nice, but can't see it happening the whole 'online cheese' reason would be given and we offline guys have to suffer, pretty sure this is the reason why they don't give us this option sadly./
It's something that has to change though players are playing more position each year now. like I said before SS is the new CFComment

Totally honest question: How is "online cheese" even a factor here? I know DD cards lock-in positions and so on, for online franchise, the commish should monitor that....So, in what game mode would this even conceivably be considered an exploit, where a player could surreptitiously modify player positions before an online game?Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

I don't play online so I don't really know, but this is my guess is the reason that it happens. so that someone can't stack up on having all great outfielders playing in the infield.
If you remember last year they changed it so the ratings would effect a 1st baeman playing in the outfield, but if they had OF as a secondary postion then that wouldn't really work the ratings drop.
it's also the reason switcher pitchers were never in the game, I remember Ramone saying so people can't just cheat in have every player as a switch pitcherComment
