Is the archer program just pure luck?

So, one of the missions in the archer program is to capture an actively held Tampa territory in conquest. Is that just pure luck, because in my (relatively early on) conquest map, Miami already wiped out Tampa. Has anyone done this yet or is this going to be only accomplished by constantly restarting conquest and getting lucky?

I believe you can conquer the icon of former tampa where Miami took over and you will get credit for it, something I've heard but was wondering also

Someone else said that doesn't work. It apparently has to be a Tampa controlled territory and no the stronghold.

that conquest mission, i think you basically have to help them out by stealing fans from the marlins and those teams that are close to them and help them spread out a bit. this is what will make it tougher.

It's really pure luck. I highly doubt they play tested this.

well one guy on reddit, basically went straight down to TB and managed to get there in time before TB is taken over.

Yup, this how you do it. I took the entire map but didn't get it due to TB being wiped out by Miami, so 2nd time around I just charged diagonally straight to Tampa. You don't even need to take their base, just any single one of their territories and you can sim the result and it still works

It is pure luck. I have restarted the map 7 times now and either tampa doesn't exist when I get their (as early as turn 10 they are gone and you cannot get there by then) or I get cut off charging down. I am going with pure luck here, as you need the cpu to let tampa live. Kinda sucks that a program completion is based on luck.

Even if another team takes over the stronghold. You're still taking over the original teams stronghold. I did the archer mission and I'm almost done with conquest.

maybe it was fixed? because people had this issue, where they werent getting credit from taking over the stronghold if another team controls it. that is why people came up with that unique go straight to florida at the start and hope to get there before TB is taken over.

Pretty sure it wasn't, but I will check later. Also, I am pretty sure you need to take a Tampa territory and not the stronghold (even if Tampa still has it). I just think a mission based entirely on random computer results is kinda silly (although still not as bad as some of the Griffey ones).
