Is Dynasty Diamond worth it for offline play only?

I'm thinking about trying it out this year, just wondering if it's fun offline only.

To me, it's more fun offline (vs AI) than online (vs humans), I enjoy playing conquest and CPU games to advance missions and earn stubs.

Of course, you still need to be online all the time.

Call me stupid, but, I honestly don't get Conquest. I fully understand the goal behind it, but, the stealing fans, reinforcements, etc. It's just not explained well and it's kind of frustrating. I watched a YouTube video a guy named CardinalBird made and he barely explained anything.

That being said, Conquest seems to be the best way to play solo for the rewards you get.

It's my first year trying DD and I am really enjoying it. I'm also a guy that avoid h2h play due to "cheese."

I haven't seen that this year. If you can be patient at the plate, you can do very well h2h in this game. Most players swing at just about ANYTHING. Once you get an opponent who realizes you won't chase, you get pretty solid games.

vs CPU is also fun and I am thoroughly enjoying that as well. You can still earn plenty of rewards and as other have said, Conquest is perfect for solo players. Plenty of rewards and you can "grind" out games quickly b/c they are 3 inning matchups.

I also think it is easier to jump into DD b/c the player cards are dynamic in rating and will go up and down throughout the season as a player performs IRL on the field. This is nice b/c it negates the MUT effect of one player having 8 different cards. AFAIK, you have what are called "Live" player cards which have the dynamic ratings, you have "Flashbacks" of a players breakout season or rookie card and you have "Legends." That's it. Plus, with dynamic ratings for the cards, you can stock up on cheap cards for guys you think will breakout and just hold on to them and sell them for big profit.

Finally, I really enjoy DD b/c it honestly let's me build the team I believe is the best and still compete with guys who have nothing but gold and diamond players. You can't do that on MUT. You go up against all 99's and you're done. In this game, I can keep Kevin Kiermaier 84 in CF b/c I believe he is the best CF'er in the league and he runs down everything and I don't have to feel compelled to discard him b/c some OP 99 OVR diamond card is on the market.

I set up my team as usual but I feel like I'm trying to play too many modes at once.
I've been playing mostly RTTS(it's been a blast so far) while I wait for the OSFM rosters.
When I play Conquest or any other DD mode I'm not feeling committed enough, I'd rather play franchise or start a short seasons mode with an all prospects team (did this in last year's game, it's a lot of fun!)

My suggestion is limit the modes you play at one time, if you're going to give DD a try, commit and play it for a while to see all the things it has to offer.

I'll continue using DD but I won't play much, because I'm a sucker for collecting cards and rewards. 😁

I complete agree, I have no idea if I'm playing Conquest "right" and it seems like it takes a long time to "win". I feel no motivation to play the mode but that's just me.
Most of the time when I do play I feel so much anxiety because I don't know what I'm doing, it seems like an endless tug-of-war.

I think for conquest it really helps if you liked to play Risk - the board game.
My friends and I used to spend hours upon hours playing it when we were younger, those games also take a long time, and strategic approach was very valuable.

Re: Is Dynasty Diamond worth it for offline play only?

I've put 24 hours into Diamond Dynasty already and have yet to play against another human so my answer is an obvious yes, I think it is worth it.

Conquest is intimidating at first but not that difficult once you get the hang of it.

                    1. Attack - Try and take over a square or Stronghold. The best strategy here is just stack all your fans into one square and then use that to march across the map. Take over as much empty space as possible early because the more territory you control the more fans you have to reinforce. You can actually sim (and probably should) the non-stronghold games. You keep attacking until you have no more moves (meaning you have no territories left with more than 1 fan)

                    2. Steal Fans - this allows you to steal fans from a stronghold. When you attempt to take a stronghold the difficulty is determined by how many fans you have vs how many fans they have so if you know you are heading towards Seattle you can use the steal fans phase to whittle away at the number of fans they have protecting their strong hold. That way you can hopefully then play them at an easier difficulty level

                    3. Reinforce - Every turn you get fans based on how many territories you control. In the reinforce phase you are simply placing them on the map. Place them into one existing territory. The should be placed at the front edge of your territory. Your best strategy is to place them in a spot where you can keep attack without boxing yourself in.

                    4. Move fans - Simply allows you to move fans from one territory to another. Lets say during the attack phase you moved yourself into a corner and you have a territory with 10 fans but it can't attack because it is boxed in by your own territory. You cam move those fans to a territory that does have space to attack.

If you plan your path things out well enough you can skip the move phase, especially early on when there is a lot of empty squares to attack.

Don't worry too much about stacking fans in your strongholds. I have found that the computer AI rarely if every attacks your strongholds, but the will attack each others.

If you attack a stronghold with 20 fans and you win then you can continue to attack with those fans from the stronghold to an adjacent square.

Once you get the hang of it the mode is not difficult, just time consuming. With the new conquest missions though it rewards quite a lot of XP and stubs. There are also random strongholds that will award you Conquest packs to open that contain 4 cards.

It's a fun mode since it is only 3 inning games and they have really upped the reasons for playing it by adding the missions and allowing you to finish it a second time and get a 10 pack bundle from completing it a second time.

Cardinalbird5 makes good videos and there are not many who are better than him at the game but you could probably find more in depth conquest videos with a little searching. There was also a stickied thread I created last year called the Conquest Question and Answers thread. It was just unstickied when this version released so it make be buried a few pages back but there were a lot of posts there about the mode.

Dolenz - I played a lot of Conquest last year. I don't have the game yet, but I understand they have increased the replay incentive this year. Last year, as you know, there wasn't a lot of incentive for playing through it multiple times...but I did it anyway.

What replay incentives are in the game this year?
