Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
One fix could be adding a secondary preference number as well. So I can have preferred number listed as #11 and if it's taken, then I could use a secondary like #22...unsure what would happen if both are taken tho.Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
Maybe they can give the player the ability to edit all player’s numbers in RTTS. That way if someone steals your #, you can take it back (with fire and blood)Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
Sadly this has been an issue for YEARS. Anytime a new player comes to a team they steal away the number of the player already on the team. That is so backwards from the way things should be. Don't know why SDS hasn't fixed this issue.Atlanta Braves

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
I know this thread is dedicated to RTTS but it happens in franchise as well and it drives me nuts.
Kolten Wong wore 8 different jersey numbers for me last season.
Annoying

Yeah, it's really dumb, but unfortunately SDS won't do anything about it because they don't care.Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
This is at least fixable in franchise mode (especially with 30-team control). It’s annoying but a quick fix. In Road to The Show you’re just screwed on it.
And it sucks really bad considering you see your player’s back a ton (when fielding).

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
Usually before I create a RTTS, I go into the roster and change as many player’s preferred numbers as I feel like doing.
So if my RTTS is going to be #31, I’ll go into the roster and change any player whose number is 31 to a different number. Sorry Mad Max.
It’s annoying to do and creates less immersion seeing Scherzer or somebody of his caliber wearing a different number. However, it keeps my player’s number static.Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
Any chance this has been discussed by a developer this year? I'm honestly shocked that year-in and year-out this is still an issue in one of the most popular features of their game. It continues to be the reason I just can't play the mode. Yes, I know it may be minor to some, but losing my jersey number repeatedly drives me insane in this mode.Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
I found a way to get any jersey number you couldn't get.
For Franchise:
1. Go to ROSTER CONTROL
2.Send down player with wrong number to single A
3.Save
4.Go to ROSTER
5.Channge first name you might use their nickname or middle name get creative until number sticks.
6. Don't change audio first name.(important )
7. Save
8.Go back to ROSTER CONTROL
9.Change player back to Major League
10. Save
11.Go back to ROSTER CONTROL
12.Put him back in the lineup.
Examples :
For Eddie Mathews I used his nickname
" Captain " and got 41
For Frank Robinson I used his nickname "Robby" and got 20
The key is don't give up if a name doesn't work find one that does.
Be sure to check Roster for duplicate number and change it I used 91 successfully.
Good luck guys.

The problem is in Road to The Show. In that mode if you lose your jersey number, which happens basically anytime a player is called up or traded with the same number as you. And it's not dependent on the higher rated player. If that was the case I could at least somewhat live with it.
If I was a rookie with a 70 overall rating and I was #17 and my team acquired Kris Bryant, then okay. But I had a player a few years ago that was a 99 overall, lost my number three times in one season.Comment

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
Well, the problem isn't jersey numbers in franchise mode, as the title says. And for the record, you're making it way too complicated to change a jersey number in franchise mode, you can edit players inside franchise mode and change their numbers. And you can control every players' jersey number if you run 30-team control.

I've fixed 30 numbers in Franchise so far.
Where did you get the idea that controlling 30 teams in Franchise equates to all jersey numbers being available?

Re: Jersey number carousel in RTTS.
A lot of guys on here run 30-team franchises. You really only, “control,” on team and set the other 29 to do everything automatically. That is unless you’d like to control more than one.
But doing this allows users to fix many problems that exist when you just run a single-team franchise. Including jersey numbers. You just go into your roster in franchise mode, hit exit player, and from there you can change their number.
But again, as this post points out, it’s not possible in Road to The Show.
