It wasnt so much that the CPU AI left Barolo in the game to the 7th inning of a scoreless game on his first outing....Im totally fine with that and I wasnt really expecting the games AI to be programmed smart enough be able to use selective AI decision making calls based on point in time during the season (Altho, at this point...it really should)

I was much more worried about the CPU AI leaving Bartolo (the pitcher) to bat with a runner in scoring position. Managers just dont do this in a close game that is in the 7th. Unless of course he is pitching a no hitter/perfect game. They would simply pinch hit for the pitcher late in the game in this type of situation

I am just curious if anyone else has seen something like this...Im hoping it was a real fluke. Because, imo, this is poor AI coaching/managing logic that is coded.

I guess thats all Im getting at here
I would guess the variety of answers you are getting on this question could be directly related to the age of the person answering the question.

I understand what you are saying about pulling him for a pinch hitter and I guess I would have to know some other clues about his performance and stamina before I could tell you what I would have done......but, if his stamina was still in decent shape and his performance wasn't fading, I would continue to roll the dice with him as opposed to pulling a guy who is pitching a shutout to replace him with a bench player in hopes of him being successful at the plate.

I'm almost 60 years old and back when I was a kid pitch count wasn't tracked nor considered. In 1963 Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn both completed a 16 inning game. Now that wasn't the norm but just shows how important a good performance on the mound can be. You might also check out Bob Gibson's 1968 game log.
