How Do You Steal 1 Player?

I can't for the life of me figure this out. I'll have a man on 1st and 3rd and I want to steal with just the guy on first. I've tried pointing L-stick left and holding down L2 until the pitcher moves - both runners steal. I've tried pointing L-stick left and then pressing L2 once the pitcher moves - nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

You "pre-load" the steal by pointing the left stick to 1st base (to the right) and pressing and releasing L2 before the pitcher delivers his pitch.

Point the left analog stick to the right and press L2, and the runner on first will steal.

Or you can hold L2 and release it when you want for a manual jump

This is the weirdest thing for me. I cannot get this to work on ps4. The runner on 3rd always runs. But never had this problem on ps3. Weird just weird.

So if you just press l2 with the direction the runner will steal once the pitch is pitched?

start by letting us know which base running style you use

its probably the default one where you use the left thumb stick point it towards first base then hit L2. the problem is, the guy on 3rd will start to steal EVEN if you never pointed the left thumb stick to the 3rd base.

That's exactly the problem I'm having. I had two 1st-and-third situations last night and I even paused the game to check the controls. First time I held LS towards 1b and held down L2, releasing it once the pitcher started his motion: both runners went. Second time I held LS towards 1b and pressed-and-released L2 once pitcher started motion - neither runner went. I just can't get it to work right. Using DEFAULT controls by the way.

I could NEVER get this right either. Stealing and having runners advance bases. If there is more than 1 runner or base stealer they always BOTH go. Could never get it down to signal just the 1 guy...

It is not the direction you want the runner to steal but the direction the runner is currently positioned at.

So if you want to steal 2nd and you are on first, you press Right on the stick and press L2.

The trick to steal with runners on 1st and 3rd is to do exactly as already posted, Point the left stick toward 1st, BUT the trick is TAP L2, don't pull it. If you pull it both runners will go. But if you tap it the only the runner from 1st will go.

^ what he said. Also tap L2 before the pitcher comes set.

Is there a way to practice this? Because I've tried all the above and every single time both runners go. I use default baserunning settings.

Easiest way is a play now and sim defense. And when you do it, it's a very slight tap. If you pull it more than 1/4 of the way it's too far. When pointing dont really point but put the left stick full right mid way. Looking at the controller like a clock put the stick on the 3 and hold it there while you tap. Then let everything go after you tap.
