Developers: How can we make Franchise Mode a high priority?

What options do we have for making Franchise Mode a higher priority for the developers?

From what I've been reading, the developers don't put Franchise Mode high on their priority list because market research puts more value into arcade / online modes. I don't know what percentage of Show customers use Franchise mode, but I have to think it's a significant number. 20%? 40?

Here are the options I can think of:

    1. We speak up as effectively as we can, perhaps putting a petition together or even a petition group that periodically messages the developers with our wish list.

    2. We strike gold and find an investor who can pay Sony to contract out the Franchise Mode to a team of rogue developers.

    3. We convince Sony to work with OOTP, perhaps contracting with them to run Franchise mode.

    4. We design our own game from the ground up.

    5. We continue as we are, deflated and defeated, believing Franchise mode is a lost cause.

I'm new to the Show community, so I don't know how developer interaction works. Do our OS posts have any affect on development, or are we just preaching to the choir? Based on what I've seen, it seems like the developers are active in the community or are at least reading these posts.

Presuming developers read this, I hope we can come to a reasonable decision. The issues I and many others have with the Franchise Mode can be fixed in a small amount of time. Most of my issues are menu-related - the trade system, roster issues, player development, and so on. Gameplay itself doesn't bother me so much - the developers have a good grasp on that. I just know that if they let me and 5 other amateurs take over the Franchise Mode, we'd make it so much better than what we're bound to get next year, or even in 2020.

Maybe I'm totally misguided here. Maybe the devs really do have Franchise Mode high on their priority list? Either way, it's frustrating to see how in-depth OOTP is, while the Show - which is by far my favorite baseball game ever - has one of the most archaic, crude, and odd Franchise modes I've ever seen. It's weird how we can read player Twitter posts, but we can't offer them contract extensions in-season? What?

The Franchise Mode gamers don't need to hear the negatives - you already know what needs improving. So, what are we going to do about it? Are we going to sit on our hands, or is there some tangible, significant action we can take as a group to let SCEA know how much Franchise Mode means to us?

In my humble opinion, I honestly just feel like they don't know how or don't prioritize taking franchise to that next level.

I've said it time and time again that this mode is as barebones as it gets when it comes to video game franchise modes. Budgets and contracts are all out of whack, and if you change contracts to make their correct values, the crazy amount of trades that happen are ludicrous (it's preventing me from using OSFM in franchise mode which really stinks, but I digress)

Not being able to extend congrats mid season is baffling, and the progression system is one of the most static I've ever seen. Everything seems to be done at the bare minimum as opposed to what being a baseball GM is really all about.

The gameplay is good enough, and the graphics are absolutely beautiful to keep me coming back year after year because I love this game and the game of baseball, but I get my general manager experience from OOTP exclusively.

It always seems like people that like a particular mode more than the others feel slighted and that their favorite mode is not the "priority". SDS is a very small studio, as has been mentioned..a lot. There is only so much they can do within a 9-10 month period.

Sounds like you've chosen option 5. Are you interested in doing something about this, or do you think we're better off giving up? Like I said, I'm new to the community, so if you've been around for a while and are confident we can't convince the developers to improve Franchise mode, then that's fine. I won't waste my time any further. But if you think there really is a chance we could make a difference, then maybe I'll keep investing my time. I definitely want to do something about it. I'm a programmer. I would gladly work on Franchise mode for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week on little to no pay if I could.

RTTS is the most played mode
DD is the second most played mode and a cash cow.

Even if they made franchise stellar I don't see it surpassing those modes.

So it boils down to keeping the largest base of users buying the game year after year. And while I agree that more people may play franchise if it was better I highly doubt it would ever come near the numbers of RTTS and DD.

And while I am sure the devs never want to lose customers, the fact is losing 5% of the Franchise crowd would not hurt the bottom line nearly as much as losing 5% of the RTTS or DD crowd.

That said I hope that Franchise gets a little more love in upcoming installments.
