I don't think you're going to convince the consumer base of this game, or any game for that matter, to pay extra money on top of the retail price to get features they want in the game.

thats why you still have the $65 game but then sell extras to people who DO want those extras.

And I don't see how the consumer base paying extra money to get certain features in the game is going to solve the two biggest hurdles SDS has each year, time (dev cycle) and resources (number of people working on any given mode).

more money to sony = greater resources to hire more devs. the more working on a project can get more done in a shorter time. Heck, if money were no object, they could hire enough devs to put a game out in 6 months.
but realistically I think SDS is fine with the status quo. and as great as the Show is, I can live with that too.

Stubs, Card packs can already be bought with REAL WORLD money... if I wanted to I could buy millions upon millions of dollars in franchise funds every year... guys playing RTTS and DD can do the exact same thing... with real world money...

it is already there... we don't need anymore... maybe expand on the options we have... but we already have a slew of things you can buy through micro transactions...

What I meant was: how would transactions work in Franchise mode? What are we buying? It sounds like an interesting idea to me, and I'm not thinking of any good examples of what we could purchase.

Developing players and scouting. 2k used to use VC in MyGM.


Honestly, there's not much excuse for the perpetually terrible trade logic. There are many users in the trade discussion thread who are much better at evaluating trades in the threads using procedural logic / formulas that would be extremely easy to mimic in code. No sports game franchise has trade logic nailed down but the rest are approaching passable; SCEA's ruins immersion to the point of necessitating 30 team control, imo.


I think the community already has shown the ability to improve Franchise with the continual success of the trade discussion thread based on programming-inspired ideas. Maybe there's a reason it can't be replicated, but as a computer science undergraduate I don't see it (also, hire me and I'll fix it, I only ask for enough money to either eat or sleep).

I play 2K just as much as I do The Show, and while I've only played Madden & NHL a handful of times, one thing is clear... the Franchise mode in The Show Ian far behind the other sports in regards to certain aspects. Each of the other sports allow relocation, expansion, or at least some firmness. OF uniform customization. Fans have been asking for this for years, and we continuously get nothing, and usually the excuse is "MLB won't allow it". Really? That may in fact be true, but it seems odd that all the other leagues "allow" this. I love The Show, but it's getting to the point now that they are just so far behind other sports game in customization options that it's sad. We can't even have tattoos for created players... come on. While something like tattoos may not be a big deal to some, it is to others. I understand they don't want to be sued, and I get that, so just draw up some generic shapes or animals and let us use them. Even letters. I'm pretty sure the alphabet isn't going to take Sony to court... Quirks and critical situations are ok, but this is going on years without and signifigant upgrades to Franchise mode.

Maybe sony should ask the NFL or NBA for that permission, since MLB apparently wont give it.

Touche. What I'm saying is I find it hard to believe that all the other leagues give permission for these features, yet MLB is the only one that doesn't? That really may be the case, but I'm also not naive enough to believe everything I hear. I'm not implying SDS is lazy, because that would be inaccurate and unfair, but I do believe that by 2017 their Franchise mode should be a lot better than it is... This year they made a big deal about quirks, which have been in other games for years. All I'm saying is Thew Show used to be ahead of the curve, but now they are so far behind it's sad.

Everybody has their wish list of things they would like to see added to franchise. Call me crazy but I think before they add anything they should fix the current base mode. Manage mode - purest mode in the game - no user input cpu vs cpu is so bad I quit playing. Not enough hits, not enough runs, balls down the foul lines curve 100 feet always foul. Infielders are overpowered.

Before they add any more stuff fix the base mode. Once the base mode is fixed then fix the gimmick stuff. Once the gimmick stuff is fixed they add something else. Just my opinion. Others will no doubt disagree.

Agreed on all points here. Relocation in 2K is handled great. Lots of freedom to do what you want, or even start an Expansion team (or six)! That is what I want most of all in The Show. The most confusing part is that you can already make your own team and uniforms in DD, so I don't see why they can't allow you to do that in Franchise mode? If it's a weird licensing thing with MLB and we can't change existing logos/brands/teams then why can't we at least do an expansion team and make up our own? The Albuquerque Aliens need to win the World Series.

And the CAP/editing features took a huge step forward this year, so hopefully next year we can have tattoos. Again, if 2K can do it for all their players I don't see why The Show can't. Especially since they have the neck tats for Yadi and King Felix in their scans, but no sleeves for guys like Brett Lawrie.

Agreed. When it comes to all of these features that are in other games (but not The Show) we lived without them because they didn't exist at that point. But now that most (if not all) sports games allow facial scanning or uploading, it's frustrating that we can't do that in baseball. If these features weren't in other games, it would t be that big of a deal, but the technology is there, they just refuse to acknowledge it. As I previously stated, I really, really love The Show, but with each passing year I'm getting more and more impatient about their lackluster options.

For the tattoos part, it boggles my mind. It really does. I believe the fear of lawsuits regarding tattoos on actual MLB players. But not giving us the option to use generic shapes, letters, etc is baffling. I've seen a few times Ramone shoot down my hopes of ever having tattoos in the show in the future. He didn't even leave it open-ended, he flat out shot it down Why?

I've encountered a few people here who are willing to engage on an exceptionally sophisticated level, and I've enjoyed a few moments of those conversations. For the most part, however, it's been mediocre at best and usually just grief.

It'll take too much time and work on my part to ever make a difference here. And what's the point when most of the replies have to do with me either being ignorant or my imagination being too fantastic.

Bottom line: wasting any more time on this when the best I get is a few agreements is truly absurd. Take care and remember: it's just a game. Go play it and stop talking so much about it, especially if it's not helping anything.

Uhhh, this thread is three days old, what did you expect to happen in that time? I was actually excited to see this thread when I logged on today. I agree with a lot of the posts on here. I would gladly pay more for the game in order to get some new features implemented in franchise mode, but these things take time, a lot of time.

Personally, I would like to see scouting, drafting, progression, and regression get some attention. They could have sliders for draft class quality, progression, and regression, and better presentation for the draft for starters.
