Down by one run in the bottom of the 9th, with the top of the Red Sox lineup coming up to bat in a game with me (Sox) vs Pirates. I'm feeling like I at least have a shot to tie it... until the pitcher lets go of the first pitch and I can't see it leave his hand due to the light from the setting sun! The grandstand shadow ended about three feet in front of the mound, the rest of the infield was in sunlight. I swung blindly at a fastball and got a runner on first, but the next three guys struck out because I couldn't see most of the pitches until they were right on me. What a way to lose!

But one of the many reasons why I love this game!!

Makes me wonder if the CPU gets a drop in visibility rating when the sun's in their eyes.

Might be my imagination, but it does seem to me that pitching is harder when visibility is good. I'm in the middle of a four game series with the ChiSox right now, and both teams have been just hammering the ball. Nice visibility both games. Impossible to get outs. I've been making quality pitches they just seem to follow it.

First game was 18-15. I hate those games.

The developers purposely keep the ball white no matter the lighting. Are you saying it blended with background objects, or shadows interfered with it?

If the latter, that's not supposed to happen (by design, that is). You'd only see that happen if the CPU is batting. I'm guessing you mean the former, though. Nice little touch that kind of merges with the realism of it all (provided the CPU has the same disadvantage).

Regarding the sun, I always wished that if the sun was in the fielder's eyes that their ball landing spot would be larger or something. That would make eye black or sunglasses more than just an accessory, and possibility of a "shade sun" button (with glove) to boot.

I cannot confirm that they added some fielding animations that deal with this exact thing, but I had a day game in which JBJ was in center field, and it was a pretty easy fly ball, but he would not lock on to the landing marker, as he normally does. He made a weird attempt, and the ball bounced behind him for an error...

I am not sure if the game had sun-forced errors, but it seemed to me like there may have been a definite sun-issue on that play.
