Starting pitchers used in relief by CPU in The Show Live

My last couple games of The Show Live (the mode where you play today's games with today's lineups), the CPU's first call to the pen has been to a starting pitcher (Verlander and Greinke, in these two cases).

It pretty much kills a mode whose premise is, "You can play today's game with today's rosters," when something like that happens every game.

Anyone else seeing this happen? I wasn't able to find another thread mentioning it. I'm not entirely sure if it's a bug, if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's working as designed.

I haven't played it this year to notice, but i have played that mode in the past and that doesn't surprise me. That mode could be so great but it is very buggy. I've had times in past years where the team's closer wasn't even on the roster and times where the computer fills out the roster with random free agents.

I've seen it in past years. If it's still happening, it's a legacy thing.

Agree that it kind of kills the mode. Fortunately it doesn't happen in "current roster" play now, which I spend a lot of time in.

        I was using daily roster.

What's the difference between daily and current roster?

"Current" uses the roster that's loaded on your PS4 (the default one, if you haven't loaded a different one). Daily is subject to whatever lineup moves the real life team makes on any given day. Sounds great on paper since it's updated constantly automatically, but...

All sorts of weird things happen in the daily roster/MLB Live mode that don't happen in "current roster" (which I prefer to call regular) Play Now. Like, too many to name. It messes with the game's logic or something, so you'll sometimes see players out of position, starters in the bullpen, etc. In fact, I think this might even be why some people are seeing low pitch counts from SP's even in full games. At least, it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case.

To me, that's an entirely separate game mode, and not really a substitute for Daily Rosters games. One is an exhibition mode and the other is supposed to immerse you in the actual game environment, including stats, appropriate commentary, etc.. It would be my favorite and probably most played mode, but as others have mentioned, it's extremely buggy and unpolished.
