Yes but analog pitching is too easy on legend imo. I never walk the cpu and often limit them to under 7 hits a game

I can't do this as I use directional and classic pitching. Good you are having great results though

Re: Default legend is the best out of the box sports experience ever made

Thought I'd bring this up since I've recently just started a franchise set to legend in all areas (zone hitting, analog pitching, analog fielding). While I do like the feel for the most part there are actually a couple things that concern me.

25 games in I have the Rays at 11-14 no trades (started before the Rays acquired Plouffe and Duda), but one of the things I've always been really good at is hitting, and on this my team as a whole is hitting an abysmal .215 with about 5 guys well under .200 (Dickerson is at like .360 with 9 HRs though). And one of the main reasons is I can't count the number of times I've been square on a ball with perfect timing only to have it either be a routine out or even worse, foul. I know it's supposed to be harder but I feel that happens way too often. Give me half of those I'm probably still hitting .260ish which is more Rays like given this years team.

Also pitching, the CPU gets so many hits against me. Of those 25 games, 22 of them were double digit hittings, and 2 of the other 3 were 8 and 9. They get a ton of hits on pitches outside the zone. I just wonder if there's a certain way I need to start pitching them to limit that because it's hard to score enough to win when I'm giving up 6-7 runs a game. I typically keep everything low because it seems any high pitch in the zone gets driven for a homer.

Now the most concerning part of this, I've played 25 games now and I have yet to see the cpu make one error. the cpu literally has a 1.000 fielding average against me. Yeah it's legend, but that's blurring the line of realism to generate challenge.

Now granted despite me usually looking for the most realistic experience possible, this year I threw that away just for a challenge, and I have no plans to change that regardless of how this continues, but it's just so frustrating to actually do the right things, like perfectly hit the ball or place my pitch perfectly where I want it only for the complete wrong outcome to happen.

This post is more of a venting kind of post, mainly because my last two games (against Jays) were 10-3 and 13-3 losses, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'd love to win 3 in a row just once.

Legend kicks my teeth in on any kind of equal-ability matchup. The only way I can play it and have competitive games is in DD, with a team that greatly outrates my opponent (like 15-20 OVR points higher, although a good pitcher can still dominate me there).

Glad some people can enjoy it though! As a HOF player I can appreciate the delicate balance of user skills vs. ratings and advantages given to the CPU.

yeah hall of fame probably is the more "real" of the two, but last year it was just too easy for me. 3 straight 100 win seasons with the Rays (yes, I played every game), with season 1 being nearly the original Rays lineup. Yes it took me 3 years to take the series but I still found it a bit too easy, particularly hitting with a batting avg of around .300 as a team and leading the league in HRs by a very wide margin. But this year legend seems to have swinged that completely the other way (except HRs, I'm still like 3rd in that)

Just curious, why won't directional hitting and classic pitching work on Legend?

Probably because it's based on a dice roll and Legend is more prone to favoring the CPU in those dice rolls. Since you don't have as much of an influence on the outcome of your offense or pitching it can become a chore to try and grind through the game when the dice roll is going to come up in the CPU's favor more often then it would on HOF.

I personally won't touch Legend as I use directional and classic and get more then enough of a challenge. I find it easier to tweak HOF with sliders then to go to Legend only to basically raise all my sliders while lowering all the CPU's, at that point I'm basically tuning it into a version of HOF anyways.
