    Weird and unrealistic injuries.

I've had two straight games with bizarre injuries that I've never seen in my nearly 10 years playing The Show. Usually the injuries are contextual (one year I remember losing Justin Ruggiano for most of the year after a ball drilled him in the eye and he suffers a fractured cheekbone/eye socket).

The injured are always accommodated by a cutscene of the player walking off the field in pain. However these did not have a cutscene which makes me think they may have been some sort of odd glitch, especially considering the nature of the injury and how such injuries would most likely be impossible).

Both (in back-to-back games) were fractured forearms in which the player is slated to miss 1-2 months.

First one was Willson Contreras who suffers a fractured forearm after hitting a triple. No slide, just a normal triple. Second was Javy Baez, who also suffered a fractured forearm after he fielded a routine ground ball at second and threw out the runner. No dive, nothing.

I'd be fine with a pulled (or even torn) hamstring for Contreras and a shoulder or elbow issue with Baez but these injuries are super-bizarre.

I feel as if it's cheating the system and I probably won't do it. But I'm considering giving them a different, more realistic injury manually.

I like the way you causally mention giving them a realistic injury manually. Remind me not to play you. I'd hate to see how you hurt my guys. Lol.

I had Manny Machado tear his ACL on a base on balls. Then he retired at the end of the year due to injury ( 1st year of franchise). Also that same year Kershaw retired due to a rotator cuff injury. Needless to say, I restarted that franchise.

The other odd (non) injury was in RttS my guy, a RF, gets an injury popup during the game, hamstring injury will probably have to go on the dl. I click ok and then take my next AB. Triple, then hit the field for defense. Finish the game, but no credit for anything except the catch I hurt myself on. The box score said I was replaced after the catch even though I finished the game. And I never heard anything about it after, no dl, no missed games.

        I changed their injuries to:

Torn hamstring for Contreras and cartilage damage in Baez's knee. Out the same amount of time but slightly more believable injuries.

I'll just have to pretend that Baez had been dealing with the knee and he just tweaked it on the play.

Yes, I get that detailed and serious about the game.

The one that bugs me is when a player leaves the game with an "undisclosed injury," particularly when they're on my team. I'm the manager. It wouldn't be undisclosed to me.

I had Yu Darvish somehow get a head injury when I hit a ground rule double off him. I mean, I hit it well, but the ball never went anywhere near him, it landed on the warning track.

I am almost to the All Star break in my Diamondbacks franchise and I have had some tough luck with injuries.

Brandon Drury tore his ACL in the first week of the season and is out for the year. Yasmany Tomas tore his ACL about 2-3 weeks later and is done for the season. And just recently A.J. Pollack fractured his forearm and is likely out until at least September.

I feel like my lineup now consists of Paul Goldschmidt and the AAA Reno Aces.

btw, when a guy gets a 6-month injury, all you need to do is manually remove injury - then, add injury of stomach ache and put guy on 60-day DL. Take screenshot or just remember to re-injure him with stomach ache and 60-Day DL him. no player will then retire at end of season.

contreras probslbly hit his triple with his arm and not his bat
baez got what dravecky and tony saunders had.
                  but srsly, weird, just weird.

                    Re: Weird and unrealistic injuries.

just had a weird injury in my franchise.

base loaded, rizzo on 3rd, 0 outs, guy at bat has a chance to score some runs but strikes out to a ball in the dirt and the catcher cant hold onto the ball, so it rolls out in front of him, runners cannot advance. so rizzo went back to 3rd base and ends up with a tier 3 tear, forcing him out for 2+ months.

                      Re: Weird and unrealistic injuries.

I'm playing RTTS and have suffered two phantom injuries that put me on the 60-day DL. Both occurred during walks, the first being a fractured forearm and the second being a fractured leg. Maybe I fractured my arm during a swing---it happens---and maybe I fouled a ball off my shin and didn't notice (is that even in the game?), stepped on a rock while jogging down to first or something equally ridiculous. But WHY was I kept in both games?

Both times I received a message that I'd been injured and both times I was shocked that it happened during a walk, but I was floored when I stepped to the plate for more at-bats in both games and confused when I showed no sign of injuries. Both games ended with me receiving a message that I'd be put on the 60-day DL.

I realize guys play hurt all the time, but I fractured my leg when I was 11 and I couldn't put any weight on it let alone walk, and I can't imagine playing with a fractured leg as an adult, either. Especially these days when teams take extra precautions to protect their investments. If this were the 1890s I would have spit tobacco juice on my fracture and gone about my business, but in this era I'm limping my sorry *** straight to the clubhouse, or having someone carry me in.

Oh yeah, after my first major injury I spent extra points on Durability and have it at 90. Apparently I'm a frail 90.

1st year with my Braves, mid-season injury to Dansby Swanson out for the year (labrum tear).

Once season was over, I see he's retired due to injury. I felt I didn't have the choice other than to do not save and restart the ''go to offseason'' screen. 2nd time, he wasn't retired.

It's highly improbable.. no way I would have accepted my SS star to retired at 24. Let's say I was quite happy to have turned off autosave at the beginning of my franchise

I always do a save right before the off season starts after the world series, sim to the next day to the retirements screen and check if there are any retirements due to injuries that don't make sense. If there are, I just reload the save and go and manually un-injure those players. Or sometimes I will just go through and un injure any players I think may retire due to their respected injuries.

They really need to change the way retirements are handled, or at least let us "un retire" a player.

Lol. Maybe the training staff doesn't like you, and wants to see you fired.
