Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
What about when you use a pitcher to pinch run? Same thing work?Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
we can't pinch hit a pitcher for a DH correct? so your saying if we pinch hit for a OF on the Angels in the first innings (its the only way to get a pitcher in the lineup and earliest) that he would have to go to the mound?? I thought the starter would keep pitching anyway. because he hasn't been replacedComment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
You can PH a pitcher for the DH, you just can't start a pitcher at DH. Pinch hitting with a pitcher in the AL would never trigger him having to go to the mound, regardless if it is OF or DH.we can't pinch hit a pitcher for a DH correct? so your saying if we pinch hit for a OF on the Angels in the first innings (its the only way to get a pitcher in the lineup and earliest) that he would have to go to the mound?? Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
I always use NL teams so Im not sure how the game handles AL stuff like that.Originally posted by SidBreamI don’t think that is true. You can pinch hit or pinch run for the DH and that player is allowed to continue being the DH for the rest of the game. Are you saying that if you use a pitcher to do this in The Show, it automatically puts them on the mound?
According to MLB rules there are two ways you can “lose” the DH:
1: if the player who starts the game as the DH moves into the field.
2: is a pinch hitter bats for any player in the lineup and then moves to the mound to pitch.

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
the Show doesnt track start stats for position players anyway, only pitchers.
for position players it only tracks total games played and amount of innings.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
If it was as easy as just making it so it’s a option in the lineup menu, it would have been done last year when we had a 2 player.Comment

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Betancourt has only pitched 5 and a third innings in two seasons, there was no need to change the game for that. Ohtani is a completely different scenario and I am sure they have coded it into the game. On the off chance they say they can't/won't then it will be a major fail and inexcusable.Comment

I'd like to know the over/under prediction for:Betancourt has only pitched 5 and a third innings in two seasons, there was no need to change the game for that. A) Otani's 2018 PA's
and B) Otani's 2018 IP
If, after the season, Otani winds up with more than 100 PA's AND more than 20 IP
I will consider qualifying the inaction as a fail.
I wont be willing to go so far as to classify it as major and/or inexcusable.
I'll leave that to those far smarter than I.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Unless he has a season ending injury its a 100% certainty he will far surpass both. That is only one month worth of playing.I'd like to know the over/under prediction for:

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
Barring injury, I think he's a slam dunk for 100 IP but his PA's might be minimized with Pujols at DH. In the OF, Otani's a 5th wheel.
If he were in the NL I'd be more certain of him reaching 100 PA's
EDIT: speaking of injury, it's also interesting to note his elbow and ankle to watch in 2018.Last edited by Caulfield; 02-11-2018, 12:28 PM.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: Shohei Otani in The Show
It has already been confirmed that Pujols will be playing more first base in 2018. So if he's healthy he'll get plenty of plate appearances. He will definitely not be playing in the OF at all this year.Barring injury, I think he's a slam dunk for 100 IP but his PA's might be minimized with Pujols at DH. In the OF, Otani's a 5th wheel.
