stealing a base with extra lead

I will start by saying I always just click the L2 button and let the cpu decide when you runner will take off for the stolen base. With that said in past years I would always take the extra leed off of first before trying to steal secound. This year ibahve noticed that runners seem to get a worse jump with the extra leed and get thrown out more. I'm not talking slow guys or bad bases runners this is happening with Billy Hamilton. Anyone else seeing this or am I alone.

I've noticed it with guys like Dee Gordon and Starling Marte. Awful jumps, and the pitcher slide steps which makes it even worse.

Any time I try and get an extra lead, the pitcher will use a pickoff move. I eventually stop trying to increase a lead, because I've been picked off too many times.

I've also noticed the pitcher will slide step almost any time I use L2, even without when they didn't use it on the prior 2 pitches. At first I thought it may be because I was playing on HoF mode, but they do it on All-Star and Veteran too.

I'm all for a competitive game, and the computer playing smart baseball. But when it feels like I'm getting cheated by the computer, it starts to get frustrating.

I've absolutely noticed the exact thing. I don't even try to get extra lead anymore because even with good steal/speed players I get thrown out more. It's a quite obvious difference. With no lead I can probably 99% of the time get a stolen base. If I take the extra lead it seems like it's a coin toss as to if I'm safe or out.

I'm convinced there are timing animation differences which are causing this. There's videos out on YouTube showing how faking a bunt will cause animation timing issues and I think this probably falls in that category.

Just my opinion and 2 cents.

What i do is press L2 in advance and when i expect the pitcher will start his windup i press l1 to take the extra step and my player gets a good jump because started running while in motion.

              Have you tried manual stealing?

Wait, is there another way other than releasing L2? I find they're always so delayed in their jumps.

You can tab L2 in advance you dont have to keep it pressed just practice your timing with the extra step, if you take it just before the pitcher starts his windup there's a big chance you will get a good jump.
