Am I the only person who pushes the stick down for batters with a power rating below 55 and pulls it toward the batter if the rating is higher?

While I recommend a more dynamic approach like the posts above, this strategy is still pretty good and you will definitely find success using it.

Like I said about the no influence swing, there is nothing inherently wrong with locking in to one swing type per player, but you are denying yourself the situational benefits of the other swing types. If that's a price you're willing to pay, then hey, you do you.

Like I said before, directional is like gambling. If always betting on black is working for you, then there is no reason to try and incorporate the more advanced game theory, especially when the inventor of that theory is telling you there is no guarantee that it's going to work out better.

Just to be clear I understand correctly, to hit more home runs you simply pull the stick evenly toward the hitter. With power hitters I have always looked for a high fastball in the upper pull corner early in the count. When I simply try to pull the ball U can never keep it fair.

Just to be clear I understand correctly, to hit more home runs you simply pull the stick evenly toward the hitter. With power hitters I have always looked for a high fastball in the upper pull corner early in the count. When I simply try to pull the ball U can never keep it fair.

Yes pulling will buff your power. The high upper pull side ball is a tough one to hit fair. Pretty much have to time it perfectly, and waiting too long usually ends up a popout or a broken bat. I'm usually looking for stuff below the letters, a little closer to belt level.

P.S. I wouldn't put too much stock in the swing feedback. They always seem a little wrong, except on the too early or too late feedbacks.

Timing is the most important aspect of hitting HR's. If you don't time your swing right, it won't happen for you.


The second most important thing is the pitches location. You have nine boxes that form the strike zone. Imagine a circle around the middle box and then remove the grid lines so now you have one large box with a circle in it. These are the pitches you want to swing at early. Later on, you'll want to expand your circle (your zone) so the circle is touching the center of each of the four lines of the box. If the pitcher hits in the box but outside of that circle (the corners) good on them. Tip your cap to a job well done. When I hit poorly, it is because I am focusing on a corner I expect the pitch to come. And when they hit those corners, you don't get much success. So looking up and in to power a HR - you'll fail more often than succeed.


After writing this, I think I'm going to turn hot/cold zones off!

Just interested to find out if you Directional hitting guys use camera shift on or off? Does either of them have advantages or disadvantages? I can't seem to figure out which one I hit better with.

Definitely off for me. Seems to serve the sole purpose of messing up my pitch recognition. I assume mileage will vary though.

I gotta say I went to esclusively using influence for every swing utilizing each players individual tendancies as well as situation, ie. runner on first and trying to punch it through the hole between first and second, and my results have sky rocketed. My offense has been unreal as of late, hopefully it continues and thanks for sharing your insight on everything directional hitting related.

I gotta say I went to esclusively using influence for every swing utilizing each players individual tendancies as well as situation, ie. runner on first and trying to punch it through the hole between first and second, and my results have sky rocketed. My offense has been unreal as of late, hopefully it continues and thanks for sharing your insight on everything directional hitting related.

I wish I can be like you. I can't figure this crap out for the life of me. the only thing that is saving me in my franchise From losing so much is my pitching. I try everything and I can't hit.i don't know what is wrong with me.

I often find that when I'm getting frustrated I "press", or get too over aggressive at the plate, and as I say in the discipline section working the count and waiting for your pitch is the most important aspect of Directional hitting. Might want to spend some time in batting practice, work on recognizing pitches and discipline in a low pressure situation. Hopefully this helps.

Also, do you have a team that should be performing better? Or are you trying to hit with a low attributes team? What would you estimate is the gap between your expectations for your team and reality, boiled down to a per game average (e.g. 1 run per game)?

Also also, if you post up some pictures of attribute ratings of any players your having particular trouble hitting with (or just write them out), maybe I can give some tips. Only so much I can do without hands on experience but I'm sure I can be of some minor help.

On the back of the sensible things WarmWind asked I'm interested to know what level you are on and how your sliders are adjusted. I'd suggest if you tinker with your pitch speed and raised your Hum Contact/Hum Timing sliders you can increase your offence pretty easily. Once you get your confidence up and know you will get a hit at some stage it's easier to go into deep counts apply all the tips contained in WarmWinds guide.

I'm using the yankees in franchise. I'm so far 13-16. I don't know I am not expecting to hit all the time. I just don't have patience and I jump the gun too much.

When you go to the plate do you have a plan ahead of time? Are you looking for a certain pitch or trying to read and react so to speak? Looking for a pitch in a particular zone? Every since I went to influencing every AB I've noticed that my walks have gone up as I'll take pitches that aren't where I'm looking regardless if they are deemed hittable. For instance with Segura, who is a push hitter I'm always looking away so I'll let pitches go inside even though I could hit them if I was looking inside wanting to pull the pitch. With 2 strikes I hold down for influence and just try and slap something through the infield or hit a solid line drive if they elevate something.

As for pitch recognition, when I'm slumping it's typically because I start trying to read and react instead of waiting for a specific pitch. When I find myself doing that I'll exclusively sit fastball every pitch to get my timing down and since the CPU throws more fastballs then anything else it allows me to get locked in again. I will flail at times at offspeed pitches but I keep at it until I mentally turn things around to a degree.

no I don't do that I been lately swinging at first pitches. do you use guess pitch? what I am doing now is all of my pull hitters I am aiming left or right and the only two balanced hitters I am aiming up. so far I am getting hits but not getting runs.
