MLB The Show 17 Patch 1.05 Seems to Have Improved the Game

The MLB The Show 17 patch v1.05 hit your consoles yesterday and thus far, the community is reporting some good things with the newest patch. Here’s a round-up:
    • Quick Counts and pitchers being pulled has largely been fixed. There’s still some instances people are reporting where pitchers may be getting pulled too soon — but overall the game is delivering a much more realistic experience here.
    • Similarly, pitchers aren’t pulled nearly as fast in managed games either. The whole management system of when a pitcher is pulled seems to have been improved quite a bit.
    • The bat sound has been fixed and sounds much better. (Thank goodness).
    • Some are reporting home runs are the same as they’ve ever been, which wasn’t addressed in the patch but community members have shown some concern HRs are too frequent in this year’s game.
    • Bunting is much improved, less frequent more ‘rocket bunts’ are being reported though they’re still there. As one note, its likely rocket bunts are more frequent with players who are bad at bunting vs. those who are good.
    • There was some work done on the balls in the dirt/catcher throwing runners out that wasn’t mentioned in the patch notes. It seems most still feel this isn’t quite right, but some reports of improvement were mentioned.
    • Online play issues continue at least off and on for users. There are some structural things like pause time getting some complaints as well. As for the servers, there are still reports of having issues with lag and freezes but by most accounts the game seems ahead of where it was a couple of weeks ago.

    Overall

The patch looks to have improved the experience in most ways in the game. At this point, more than a month after release, the game has come a long way and there's more than enough reason to jump in if you have been hesitant to. Just keep in mind that the online experience of the game still isn't completely smooth, but overall MLB The Show 17 is playing the best game of baseball we've ever seen on consoles.

OS’ers are discussing the new patch in our patch notes thread on the forum. Be sure to report your own results for these and other issues below in the comments as well!

Right now the wild pitches (and cpu baserunners advancing) are the biggest enjoyment killers in single player. Even if the ball stays in front, the CPU easily advances. When it's vice versa, I can't advance on the CPU. Their response and animation is immediate and crisp.

The homerun issue is just Lol. I keep playing until it normalizes, but after 30 games I'm averaging just under 3 homeruns per game with the Orioles (Legend default, zone). My batting averages are low (.220 as a team) but with my walks and long balls I'm leading the league in runs per game.

And no, I'm not that good. I was barely able to cut it at all-star last year.

I can struggle for a couple innings but the CPU grooves too many pitches, so eventually I just club them 450'.

Sanchez blocked/smothered every single one and the CPU never took off.

This isn't always the case.....see the patch before this one. lol

I think the game overall is still pretty great. Sure, there are quirks/bugs, and for sports nuts like us, we will obsess over them. That said, I've had some amazing baseball experiences with this years game. As someone who started wit RBI Baseball on NES (in my early 40's).....amazing to see how far baseball games have come!

Here's to hoping they'll release another patch soon to fix created players in Online Franchise all having the same face. Gear, body types, and skin tones change, but faces are all the same. I also know there is a work around by removing audio names for the created players (from what other users have said), but this shouldn't have to be done. Online Franchise players are already losing enough compared to offline franchise players.

                      This was a great patch!

I really only have a few issues now. Getting all the OSD correct. But more importantly, base running. My guys just stopping half way, and not moving until I click a button. I've never seen this in a Show game before.

I haven't seen this at all. I have baserunning on assisted, and the only time things get tough is when the runner stops halfway because a ball might be caught. This really sucks when he's slow, the hitter is fast, and the ball actually drops...

Getting a new weird error on quick counts since the patch. Once i went into the bullpen and couldn't back out of it without selecting a pitcher...weird thing was I was the batting team and tried to warm up a guy but it only had the put in game option which i clicked...went straight back to the game and next inning that guy came in without a promt.
Also couldn't do a double switch in a NL game.

Yeah I think this patch has improved the game tremendously.

Personally I havent seen too many Hr being hit by me or the AI. Heck the baseball are flying out of ballparks IRL right now at a ridiculous rate, especially with it being so early in the season, or so it seems. I dont remember so many Hr's being hit this early into a season since the Roid days of Mac, Sosa, and Bonds.

Servers are taking a dump again, had multiple conquest games go to the queue, and the menus are moving as slow as opening day.
