    They can't win for losing.
C'mon man, this is extremely unfair.

Like Capa said, I've queued guys for hit and runs that have no business stealing and have never had pickoff's attempted their way in the past that all of a sudden get a throw over to first.

People pointing something out is no people "crying."

I haven't had any issues with steals. Inciarte and Blackmon aren't exactly Rickey Henderson but they get theirs. I don't try them as much though. Only when I have a lead or desperate in the late innings.

I am going to do some testing with this on All-Star level and report back. I am going to fiddle with the pick off slider.

Stealing is no doubt a lot tougher this year.

        I will look at

        1) steal success

        2) pickoff attempts when steal is que'd up

Is everyone using default settings with what they are seeing?

My experience so far is really good base stealers get theirs. Good ones too but not nearly at the un-realistic clip they could in years past.

Capa's issue is the que up a steal and you get a constant pickoff attempt regardless of the base runners rating.

I am going to really focus on this and see if their is anything that can remedy it a little slider wise. But the only thing that can is IMO the pick off slider.

So I would tell everyone....if your feeling like this is an “issue” turn that slider down from default to 4, play....still not liking it? turn it down to 3 rinse and repeat.

Steal success though is something that is hard to sit an analyze because I have no idea what kind of jump your player got, what was the pitch, slide step or no? Catcher rating.

And yes you will be thrown out. And this year it is harder.

But Betts is a good base stealer. I have not looked as I am not on the console. But what is Betts speed and base stealing rating and does he have the “Thief” quirk?

Maybe some simple player edits can easily cure the steal success in played games. Because sim stats look excellent IMO.

I really was not talking about Capa...and shame on me for not being more specific.

That was just my frustration about the general forum spewing out. And the numerous this is broken, this is horrible threads that have infested this place ad nausea.

            My apologies.

I find stealing ridiculously easy. I am 40 out 44 playing as the Red Sox. The only times caught was accidentally going for home. Does pitch speed have an effect? I have pitch speed at 3.

How do you steal? Do you que it up? Or hold down L2 and release as soon as the pitcher goes into the pitch (lifts his leg as a righty, or commits home as a lefty), do you take an extra step lead or use the default lead?

What is your base-runner speed set too? Default 5?

I might have the answer to OP.

When do you que up the steal? I find that the CPU just knows when I que up to steal except when I que up ASAP.

It actually kind of makes sense. While the pitcher is setting up and looking at the catcher, signals are flying around everywhere from both benches. The opposing team only has their gut to figure out if you're stealing or not. But if the pitcher is already set, then all of a sudden a signal comes from the opposing bench, odds are someone on the defending team is going to have an idea what's up.

I seem to get thrown out anytime I try to steal and picked off anytime I take an extra step.

                    I dunno too much!

I use default baserunning speed. Using the queue method. No extra lead. I do manually slide to the backside of the base.

Is there more than one method of stealing all then the queue method? I press the button before the pitch. Maybe I am missing something here and that is why I am having trouble.

Most of the time the runner is given a green light and it's up to them to run based on the situation and if they can get a good read on the pitcher to the plate. Hit & runs are an exception though, I guess.

That's not how it works. Once the pitcher is set the runner is already in his lead and is focusing only on the pitcher.

In all my years playing, never once did I ever encounter an occurrence where there was such a thing as a last second steal sign (which would have to be a verbal queue from the 1b coach which is incredibly unrealistic).

Hmm, well then maybe it's the subtle change in body language that tips off the pitcher that I'm going to steal? All I know is that if I que up a steal before the runner sets, any caught stealing results seem to be guesswork on the CPUs behalf. Meanwhile, nearly every time I click the button after setting, the CPU knows it, like they have uncanny ESP.

I just quickly press the button, I don't use the hold and release technique.

If I raise the steal ability slider, does this only affect the player? Or does this also increase the CPU's base stealing ability?
