Check swing appeals to first or third base and mound visits

Hey, I'm not seeing ANY check swing appeals to first or third base be called for strikes, even when I've obviously broken the plane. I know I could turn the option off, but I want it there for realism and it always seems to result in no swing no matter what.

Also, are mound and catcher visits less frequent now? I never see the CPUs pitching coach or catcher approach the mound, even in terrible innings.

I'm playing on version 1.02 (had to get rid of my regular internet recently, no updates) in franchise mode.

I've see the check swing appeals be called for strikes, but now that I think about it I've not seen a mound visit by the CPU once in this game this year...

I'm having the exact same problem, every time a check swing appeal goes to first base its never for a strike. I've seen one called for a strike since I bought the game.

        Non issue,

Seen plenty of check swing appeals called for strikes and I've seen my fair share of mound visits by the CPU.

The more and more you play the more you will see. I've said it 1 million times about this game. Playing a lot of games is the key to the variety and the spice of life when you play The Show.

While I realize time can be crunched for many people and people will use play one and simulate five or use a lot of quick manage when you're playing every game every pitch you see it all.

Me too, the very first one that I saw. I thought, "great they fixed it". I don't recall seeing one since.

Mound visits have never been something the cpu uses in MLBTS. What I do and what u will have to do is manage the bullpen etc for the cpu once the SP is out of the game.

Meaning yes, switch controller over to perform a mound visit, and when it is time to yank the RP to bring in another. OR help them with lefty/righty matchups since there is zero logic with bullpen management from the cpu from what I can tell.

And personally I have always turned off check swing appeals because they were wrong quite a bit of the time. Rather just not even bother. I hit the button to skip the animation of the ump anyway.

I see all kinds of check swing appeals. Without any exaggeration, seriously at least every single game.

Mound visits by pitching coaches and catchers have been incredibly rare for me. I may have seen 2 and I have played close to 70 games. I wish it were an option like mound visit. It's a common thing in baseball. Maybe if it ever becomes an option they could make it's effect very minimal, and make the randomly selected ones (by the cpu obviously) be very contextual. Like shaking off a catcher 4 or 5 pitches in a row while runners are on base and you're not hitting spots, etc.

I see check swing appeals all the time with some counting for strikes, but I have yet to see a mound visit.

The mound visits are far more rare. But they do happen from time to time.

Typically they happen when a starter get's into very early trouble....typically they have already given up 1-2 runs in inning one, and then they get into deep trouble in inning 2 and the pitching coach will come out.

But if are the type of player that "X" through things....you will miss it.

And again check swing appeals are fixed on 17 after being non existent on 16 (99.99% called no swing and were pointless). I see them every game. And the balance is good on strikes and balls.

This could also tie into catcher effectiveness. This position needs the most attention from SDS, by far. Catchers do not represent MLB catchers very well.

                        Non-issue for me...

But, I did see some very odd check-swing calls when I went away from default hit timing in the sliders..since reverting to default on that slider, no issues.

I have seen a check swing called a strike although it seems most of the time they are called a ball. In all they years of playing manage mode I've never seen the cpu do a mound visit.

Thanks for the replies. Bear in mind my last copy of the Show before this year's was 14. I thought the appeals worked excellently and usually could count on a visit from the CPUs pitching coach if I jumped on their starter early and often.

I'm just really not seeing that now. And sometimes your catcher would approach if you're struggling. Maybe they've scaled back on these in the Show '17. I for one liked how it ratchets up the realism. Oh well, not a game killer, just irks me.

As for check swing appeals, I'll keep playing and see. Even if some of you have seen strikes, I have not, and either way it seems to be at least somewhat broken.
