The Best Way to get Accurate Sim Stats for your Bullpen

After thorough testing, I have seen that if you want ur 2nd and 3rd best RP to get the most relief appearances/IP/Holds - you will need too do this.

LRP - SP with Stamina b/t 40-45 (I just cut their default stamina in half or use my scale for SP Stamina and and then cut in half.)
LRP - RP with Stamina b/t 20-30 (usually default.)

MRP - Your typically #1 SU Man
    MRP - Your typically #3 best-rated MRP
    MRP - #4 best MRP
    MRP - #5 best MRP

    SU - Empty

    CP - Closer

Also, to ensure that SV/BSV %'s for Closers are accurate and that the guy labeled CP is not FORCED to pitch in every SVO, you need to label all MRP's and CP's as RP (Relief Pitchers). You will also see very accurate SV total for Closers at the end of the years, as at default each CP has 4 or more too many saves.

Go ahead and try this out with one division and sim a season. You will finally see the best MRP's get the most APP/Holds and even some saves. Any questions or comments are welcome.

    Thank You

And when you cpu vs cpu Quick Sim Games, use this for ur sliders:

    Starter Stamina - 10

    Reliever Stamina - ZERO

Manager Hook - 9 (7, 8 and 10 work also depending on how many CG's you want).

    Injury - 7 or more

I personally turn SP and RP stamina to 0 for simmed games to avoid too many CG. Hook slider has no effect on simmed games as far as I know and can tell.

And even at 0 you still see an occasional CG and most SP go 6 or so ip with 7 or 8 sometimes.

Basically the same way I have always did it. Although I always felt the hook slider did have some impact in simmed games, but its possible it dont.

It would be nice to know if the hook slider had any effect on simmed games. I have it at 0 and do not notice anything odd when I go back and look at box scores however so who knows.

It does. There are five sliders that impact simmed games: CPU starter stamina, CPU reliever stamina, manager hook, injuries, trade frequency.

I know buggie has been in my slider thread, and the 10/0 setup with manager hook at 7 is what works best. Instead of editing a bunch of pitchers, all you need to do before a game day is simulated is to ensure no team has a pitcher (who is healthy) in the LR spot.

Mike is right about the five sliders. I found that with some edits (and w/o edits follow Mike's lead) that you need SS at 10 to get proper IP totals.
And when you use either mine's or Mike's sliders - you will see almost exact CG totals. I ran a few tests and the CG totals were almost exact. Nice that they fixed it this year. I disagree about the LRP, however. And with my slider set, you will see too many G pitched for RP's, but IP total is a decent amount below 1-IP per appearance.

wish you would have told me years ago .... LOL. Hook does matter indeed and if u use either Mike's or my sliders, you will be happy.

Will this also help with LOOGYs not going so long in sim? Not sure if that was related to my manager hook last year though. Never knew that impacted sim games. Nice to know. Also on the LRP does one of them have to be a SP?

                    What is LOOGY ?

I do not think it matters if both LRP's are labeled SP or RP. I think the things that matters is that they have a decent stamina rating, but not too high.
With my set-up, the #1-LRP will go not more than 120-IP for the worst team and the #2-LRP will go about half of that. You can swap em around every other month if you want better IP distribution. The sim stats are great if you just put in a little bit of work. If you are going to carry-over a Franchise, then these edits must be done if you are a True Baseball Fan. If you follow what I said, you will see great stats.

                      That still doesn't work though...

yes, you are correct Mike. Unless we get a sim engine like OOTP, stats will never be exact. You and I both have tried to fix issues and our sliders and so forth will give best sim stats. only way around it is to QM 2/3 of every game, which is what I am doing. Also nice that we can jump in and out of the game. I actually like QM more than playing an entire game. Fun to see real stats and box scores.
