I just cannot seem to figure out zone hitting - SO FRUSTRATING

I play online, some tournaments, even for money here and there. I would consider myself one of the best at pitching in the world - I consistently throw to all 4 corners, paint the corners perfectly with all my pitches, mix it up very well. Even against very good players on Hall of Fame, I only give up 0-2 runs on average with 3-6 hits

But hitting! oh my lord it is so unbelievably frustrating. I've tried direction and pure analog but both of those are completely worthless against decent players or even against CPU on hall of fame or legend so you have to do zone

What am I doing wrong? Is it just a question of confidence? Do you guys focus hard on reading the pitch completely before you try to zone it and time it correctly or do you read the pitch as it comes??

What I tend to do is sit on pitches, especially with 2 strikes. Since everyone loves to throw high heat with 2 strikes especially up and in, I will move the PCI up high in the zone before the pitch if it's a high pitch I swing away. I cannot catch up to 95+ up in the zone otherwise. If the pitch is low in the zone I find it's much easier to start the PCI high and hit balls low in the zone than vice versa. But only time I move it pre pitch is if I'm sitting on high cheese.

Also, learn to love the contact swing, especially when down in the count, when you have a man on 3rd and less than 2 out, or when you have a light hitting speedster such as Hamilton, Dyson, Revere ect. If you use contact swing with someone who also has 80+ vision. You'd basically be covering the whole zone.

I can't adjust the PCI mid-pitch like your Cardinal5's, etc., so I keep the PCI in the middle until I can build a profile on their pitching tendencies (1-2 innings). At that point, I'll hold the PCI high or low depending on what I think is coming. If high, it's very easy to crush fastballs cuz that's what you're timing. When you're PCI is low, and they throw off speed, you can anticipate the pitch type based on the release, if you assume a low target, and can get good contact. Problems with this: high curves or sliders that cross the heart of the plate will turn into grounders or fouls if you're sitting high. And fastballs down the heart are pop ups when sitting low. So, if they leave a lot of pitches over the heart of the plate, you're better off leaving the PCI in the middle. It's like a poker game - you can't bluff a bad player. So, don't move the PCI until you're certain he's a good player. All this data should be collected via the pitcher analysis. Check back to this screen every inning or two.

if you can't adjust the PCI perfectly mid pitch, forgot about it vs halfway decent players. You will get devoured alive

Good players will throw 4 pitches to all 4 quadrants of the zone under any situation and any count. You can't anticipate anything, you have to be able to read and adjust PCI perfectly everytime

First thing, check your hitting view. Zoom is probably best for zone hitting. It makes the strike zone bigger and easier to understand PCI placement. Then, approach it like a hitter. What is the situation? What does the pitcher want to throw and where. Just start looking there and preplace the PCI. Do this until you get 2 strikes.

Try and watch the ball immediately as it comes out of the pitchers hand. You'll learn a lot about the pitch and what it might do or where it might go very quickly just from the exit trajectory.

Also, your hitting view is HUGE in this game. I think I use The Show 15's camera when I hit, but it's entirely personal preference.
