Re: Pimp Your Prospects (MLB 17 Edition)
Agreed - Fielding rating isn't as significant for OF positions as it is for IF positions, so if he's good a good arm and good speed I'd move him to OFComment

Re: Pimp Your Prospects (MLB 17 Edition)
First draft with the Braves (picking 5th):
1) 75(current)/88(potential) CF with high contact and speed profile
2) 73/88 LHSP
3) 73/75 2B
4) 63/77 RF, super fast and crazy power.
5) 68/74 RP
6) 68/74 SP
7)) 54/78 RP
Was not too happy with the top-end potential of the guys, but I guess a couple of MLB-ready guys to play with.Comment

Re: Pimp Your Prospects (MLB 17 Edition)
Wow. Rare guy with elite speed who's not a scrub. MLB ready bat too. If he can get his fielding up, he'll be a superstar.

Re: Pimp Your Prospects (MLB 17 Edition)
I'm in year 3 of a Padres franchise that I started using OSFM rosters at the beginning of MLB16. The first two drafts were scouted and played in MLB16 and the third season draft and scouting has come from MLB17.
Season 1:
-1st round (7th pick): Jarret Chavis, 2b, 19yo, 72 overall, B potential
-2nd round: Grover McGrath, LF, 20yo, 74 overall, D potential
Chavis is my everyday second baseman here in year 3, meaning he got 1 full year in the minors, split between AA/AA, and then played 15 games or so in September when I was out of the playoffs and my MLB starter went down. I probably called him up too early but my 2B was weak af, plus I have some high potential depth in the minors that might take his spot later if he doesn't pan out. He is 21 years old and a 79 overall, fairly well-rounded, but hitting below the mendoza line two months into his rookie season.
Season 2:
-1st round: James Parker, 19 yo 3B, 62 Overall, 89 Potential
-Supplementary 1st from Andrew Cashner: Vic Burdette, 20 yo SP, 61 Overall, 89 Potential
-2nd round: Aaron Pickett, 22 yo LF, 45 Overall, 80 Potential
-3rd round: Gil Barrios, 23 yo SP, 70 Overall, 87 Potential
-4th round: Bobby Tierney, 18 yo SS/U, 70 Overall, 87 Potential
-5th round: Chris Delgado, 23 yo SP, 67 Overall, 79 Potential
-6th round: LF Cesar Villa, 21, 47 ov, 43 pot
Season 3:
-1st round: Ryan Bullard, 19 yo/3B, 57 overall/86 potential
-2nd: James Wilburn, 19/SP, 55/88
3rd: Jay Rush, 19/C, 52/96
4th: Jack Bromberg, 18/SP, 59/87
5th: Andrew Stephens, 24/RP, 61/77
6th: Louis Ceda, 23/SP, 66/72
7th: Duncan Smalls, 22/RP, 56/78Comment

Re: Pimp Your Prospects (MLB 17 Edition)
Already mentioned Rex Cortez previously, but there were two other guys in the 2017 MLB Draft that we picked that became great players. OF Leo Rosales was selected in the 2nd round who was a solid player all around and played very well in the 2020 postseason to secure back to back World Series in my Tampa Bay Rays franchise. His overall is 90 at 2B, but had a need at LF so Rosales plays there now as he is serviceable fielding and has a good arm.
SP Randall Gruthier was the 3rd round selection and had impressive stamina and incredible velocity, but was a pretty raw prospect otherwise. He spent a few years in the minors and already has a year of MLB play under his belt, he is now the ace of the staff and a 99 overall as I am writing this. So my 1st three picks proved to be pivotal in the Tampa Bay Rays rebuild!
