    Game is getting stale

Usually Im done w/ this game 2 weeks after release but this year i've loved it. Best version since the ps2 days.

I don't play online so for all the offline modes, I'm starting to get bored w/ the game.

What are some things to do to keep it fresh? I know about Missions and DD , Franchise, RTTS, have done it all this year. That is how much I like it. But is it just a natural fact the game will get stale with how much play I've put into it.

      Do a franchise fantasy draft.

I have a question though: Why do you buy the game every year if you only put 2 weeks into it?

Super confused by the title and contents of this thread. "Game is stale, but I love it and I'm playing it a lot."

I've been through this problem with many sports franchises. The basic issue is that when you first discover it, there's some magic to it as you learn and play. Sometimes it even lasts 2-3 years. Eventually, the magic disappears but every year you buy the game just hoping to rediscover it, not realizing that it's basically gone, never to come back.

start a season, doesnt have to be franchise mode, 40 man season mode will work fine,
pick one American League team to bat only with, sim all pitching.
then pick one National League team (Cubs?) to pitch only with, sim all batting. see if you can get them to square off against each other in the WS. if you do, then in the WS pitch only with the AL team in road games and hit only with the NL team in road games. It might be fun to do this in a quick 29 game season instead of a full 162.
            other ideas to consider:
            1) playoff mode can get a ton of replay for me, since its so fast.
see which teams you can win the WS with and which ones are damn near impossible.
            2) season mode, with QC on or off, pitch all of Kyle Hendricks games, see if you can win the Cy Young award, sim everything else including all hitting. you're only looking at, what, 32 games pitched?
            3) give something to the community, recreate the '45 Cubs and '45 Tigers roster and upload to the vault for playoff mode for a 1945 WS Rewind

This is deep man. I experienced the magic in MLB 10 The Show. It was my first baseball game in years and it was the closest I've ever come to playing a full 162 game season. (Got to like the 120s-130s and then my save got corrupted somehow :/ ) The games years after have been great, but just never the same.

I've been through it with NCAA football, Madden, NBA 2K, Football Manager... probably a couple I'm even forgetting.

                  Great answer.

I had the same problem with the NCAA Football franchise.

I've found a fix for this issue though: I've stopped buying sports games.

I used to buy every sports "sim" game that came out. NHL/NBA/MLB/NFL, even UFC.

I've paired that down to NBA every year and The Show just every other year or so, and I'm considering not getting NBA next year at all.

Sometimes you just have to let things go for a year or so. Then the magic tends to come back.

The game is stale and I'm one to buy it every year. Thankfully I sell it soon after to make most of my money back. Time for a new MLB game developer because this series is just BORING!

Game gets better every year. I've played about 75 full games thus far. I used to only play QC and I probably played a total of 100 QC games last year due to my schedule. I will far surpass that this year. If you're bored with the game at this point perhaps you're just not a baseball fan. 162 game season is a long season so you have to enjoy the game to not get bored.

I buy Nba2k every year on pc. Like the sow each year the game gets better. And I tell myself every year I'm going to play a full season but I never get past 20 games. Why? Because I'm not really a basketball fan. I get bored. My favorite basketball game is actually NBA 2K 14 I think which has the old basketball leagues going back to the Jordan era. Unfortunately, the newer series doesn't include the old teams and the codes are tougher to crack so the modders aren't able to create it with the new engines. If they did, I probably would play basketball much more.

Every NBA since 2K11 has included classic teams, including 2K17. They've even added new teams, plus Olympic teams over the years. I'm not sure why you think they're not in the game anymore?

If that's holding you back, they're definitely still in the game lol

                          Re: Game is getting stale

The thing that I do each year when it comes to "The Show" is the following: I play everyday for the first few weeks (I only play RttS). After that, I start to play other games while still playing The Show once or twice per week. Towards the end of summer, I stop playing The Show only playing it maybe once or twice a month. Around Feb, I start playing it more and more through release where the cycle starts over again. Doing this has staved off the "staleness" that some people feel. I know some people only have a PS4 because of The Show. I play a lot of different games so I never really get tired of The Show. The only version of The Show I rarely played was '13 when timing got completely changed and there wasn't any commentary for RttS.

                            Re: Game is getting stale

It's the human condition. In an annual game franchise that can only implement small improvements each year -- no matter the hype, even the "big" changes are relatively small compared to the game as a whole -- each year will get less and less addictive (and perhaps more and more frustrating).

I reached the saturation point with Madden a few years ago, NBA2K is pretty much on the cusp (delay buy next year), and I wouldn't have bought NCAA if it had come out again (even though my favorite gaming experience of all time is Dynasty Mode in NCAA 2002).

As for the Show, I can see myself holding out next year to see if Franchise has been substantially improved. If not, I probably won't buy it even though I love the game. I don't play DD or online, I'm a Franchise junkie, and the highs just ain't that high anymore. I need Heizenberg working on Franchise mode for 2018 or I go to MLBTS rehab...

I had gotten every show since like 07 or 08, last year I didnt buy at launch, as i was trying to reduce some spending. A month or two went by and i didnt miss it, ended up skipping the year for the first time.

Came back this year and definitely felt like a breath of fresher air. The break helped big time.
