Well...I think "victim" goes a little far here. It wasn't like you didn't understand the inherent risks with the servers being so crappy. There's no excuse for them being broken...but you also took a risk, put your time into a broken system, and were burned. Which blows...but is also partially your fault because it wasn't like it a secret the system was broken. You could have stopped and moved on to something else. You weren't forced to continue.

You're right that that the biggest problem are the gaming issues...but you're also getting $20 in free content. It's not like they're not trying. The compensation isn't nothing. I really find the compensation to be adequate.

I don't use stubs, they have zero value to me, but I would say compensations worth 1/3 of the original game cost well before we are through 1/3 of the cycle is more than fair, no?
I wouldn't agree that the stubs and packs actually have a $20 value, as that implies that people would have bought them anyway, which most wouldn't, but I do agree that this was by far the most plausible thing for them to do. (other than something more imaginative, content wise)

But with that being said I still believe anyone would be well within their rights to pursue a refund if they felt strongly enough about it. Whether a company can afford to give someone a refund really has no bearing on whether or not someone is entitled to one.

Just let me tell me SOB story, damn it.

I was aware of the risks. Not suggesting otherwise.

So this means server error problems are guaranteed gone? This month and a half long process is finally resolved? I can start going for missions with guarantees they will count and the game will work like it's supposed to?

I took the risk of pre-ordering this game knowing this mess might happen and I still bought the game. That's on me. But FOH telling me I feel entitled when the bigger problem is that their game is broke.
Look through my post history, I've been critical of the server issues. But I also went out of my way not to play game modes that were heavily online reliant and went as far as to not play the game for a week or two while they were ironing out the issues. So I lost time as well. For me, this is an adequate sub for the time I lost. I know others that lost more may feel otherwise, but they could have done nothing like other companies have done in similar circumstances.

Also if you felt strongly there was still time after or close to after the release to sell the game for near full price and buy it again at a discount once the issues were figured out

I will defer to you on this so I agree. I know nothing about stubs or their value, was just going off on what others have said.

That said, I agree, if users wouldn't have bought them it really isn't the equivalent to a "refund."

I don't have anyone requesting requests for a refund for anything they don't feel sufficiently fulfills their expectations.

I also know it's unrealistic, especially with the world video games are in. Servers aren't perfectly stable and probably never will be.

There is a known risk to buying anything, even an apple at the grocery store (terribly analogy, I know), I just think it's going down a rabbit hole that won't go anywhere.

Right. People are well within their rights to go after a refund if a product doesn't meet their expectations. But that's between the customer and their place of purchase. The developers aren't the ones directly selling the game, so they're providing compensation for their issues in the easiest/best/only way they can, with in-game items.

I've been playing the game constantly for the past month and a half, purchased stubs several times as well, and I think it's both my money and time well spent.
I wasn't expecting anything, so 21 extra packs to open is great news to me. Who knows, maybe my first diamond player pull will be in one of them.

with the "Nerfing" of stubs this year at least in franchise mode any help will be greatly appreciated... but of course I will be buying $19.99 bundles as often as I can to boost my team's finances as much as i can

Seriously? You want a GUARANTEE that a game with a deplorable history of server-related issues has magically fixed those issues? C'mon, man. It will be BETTER, perhaps even REALLY GOOD compared to its past record, but no development team can ever guarantee perfect online capability.

More generally, as an "offline" Franchise player, I think the compensation is about what should have been expected. They weren't going to give away diamonds, they weren't going to give back money -- PLEASE, a partial refund?! -- and regular standard packs would have enraged people (they're garbage). This doesn't effect the market at all and everyone has 11K to spend how they like.

I criticized the team viciously for their non-apology on their last note to the community, so it was good to see an ACTUAL apology this time. I still think that communication throughout -- even a simple "We are working around the clock, we'll keep you posted" -- would have put out a lot of fires. When something is broken and those responsible go silent, that's never good.

And for the whole "time is money" debate, the guy was just using the phrase loosely, so the whole "prove how you would have made money instead" angle is kind of silly. Time isn't money, it's actually much more valuable: it's TIME, which, unlike money, can never be earned back again. The guy's general point was spot-on, even if the phrase he used wasn't literally correct.
