I thought thats how you stole? I hold down L2 and let go when the pitcher begins windup,,?

      Re: Perfect steals?

So, for those of us who don't want perfect steals every time, do we just hit L2 once?

        Re: Perfect steals?

Yeah, I didn't realize I would be learning a glitch, so I will not be using this.

I either press the L2 button once to initiate the steal, and let my guy take off if I feel it is a breaking ball count, or after I press the L2 button, I will try to time my lead off step just perfectly, so that as the pitcher starts towards the plate, my guy gets a little better walking lead.

The risk reward is decent enough that if I try to get that little extra jump, if the pitcher throws to first, I am pretty much dead meat.

I'll take that over manipulating the steal process to cheese the CPU.

I will not be using this double L2 method at all.

You have to really read what I said. Yeah you can steal that way, but there's a glitch that if you press L2 twice, it'll result in a perfect jump.

Yes, I believe so. You can either tap it and let the game automatically steal for you, or you can hold L2 and release it for manual timing. Just don't do both at the same time.

I agree that it's better to not use it in games to ensure you get realistic stats, but I'm not condoning doing this method if that's how you interpreted this thread. I was more wondering if others noticed this as well, or if my players just happen to be superhuman at reading pitchers. I want this fixed, because it is definitely something that shouldn't occur.

If I played franchise or rtts I don't think I'd use it but play dd offline, I abuse the crap out of it. Once I get those 300 steals I won't but until then I will. I agree tho, it should be fixed

How is getting a perfect jump 100% of the time not a glitch? Glad you've "used it for years" and never reported it.

I am with you. Unreal how easy it is to steal bases this way. I always just tapped L2 one time and let them get the jump (and I have always found stealing bases quite difficult). Using this method (in conquest mode - I wouldn't use it in my franchise or any sim mode) I have yet to be thrown out.

This definitely should be fixed, although it does make grinding out diamond dynasty games vs computer easier.

You also can tell it's a glitch because most of the time the slow motion animation fails to occur when sliding into second base. It is actually one of the reasons I don't mind the glitch.

Sorry guys! 😣 It needs to be fixed ASAP. I'm really hoping they've seen this.

This was definitely patched in the update, wasn't mentioned in any of the update notes specifically, but doing this now seems to guarantee an awful jump (unless I just got bad luck with a small sample size), now the only way I can try to steal is tapping L2 and hoping for the best, and there are close plays at second with Billy Hamilton running with one of the better jumps you can get from that.

I concur, this is fixed. It seems to behave just like when you simply tap L2 once now - it's dependent on a dice roll based on the runner's stealing ability rating.

You can still do the user-timed press/release steal too - but you actually have to time it yourself now.
