    Outfield defence and park factors

I want to do a fantasy draft franchise and my idea is to be elite defensively. I'm already excited at the thought of having Pillar and Kiermaier together in the outfield.

I know stadium factors won't matter in terms of the impact my infield defence has, so my question is what would be the best park to play in with those guys in my outfield? I want these guys taking away extra base hits. Is there a a park that is hitter friendly but not home run friendly? Hopefully what I'm asking makes sense. Any feedback is appreciated!

In real life, 2016 park factors for HRs and Hs appears to show that AT&T Park and Kauffman Stadium are hit-friendly but not HR-friendly.

I didn't even think about comparing HR vs hits. Thanks for that!

I guess my next question then is do we know if park factors exist in the game? And if so, to what degree?

Park factors do exist, but I think the game simulates certain kind of park factors better than others.

The park factors that are caused by ball park structure and dimension (e.g., HRs, extra base hits) do definitely exist.

The atmospheric/altitude and wind conditions are also said to influence things... but I think it's harder to see their effect. The wind definitely does affect fly balls, but whether their strength and directions are accurately modeled for each ball park and seasons... I'm not sure if the game does that properly.

In the past, no, I don't think simmed games were influenced by park factors. But who knows it might be this year, given that in pre-release stream the developers had mentioned that environment factors start influencing all ball parks (in prior years it was said those were applied to only a couple select ballparks, like Colorado). But I haven't explored the sim engine much yet this year.

One quick test you can run to see if any park factors exist in sim engine... you run a a few season simulation and look at home vs. away team batting average stats for a team like the Colorado Rockies who play in a ball park with very pronounced park factors... in the past, the batting averages at home and away weren't different, suggesting no park factor. I don't know if they differ this year.

It's harder to look at team stats since they cannot be viewed in the team stats panel in the franchise front-end, and you have to go in the actual game and stats to see them. (Another one of QA issues that should've been easily detected if testers actually look at stats while playing franchise...)

you always have good knowledge to share. have you tested closers in QM ? I have seen waayyyy to many BSV and even had three consecutive games where a closer w/ good stamina blew a three-run lead in each game !!!!

I am QM and playing every game and now have folded to pitching vs cpu on Rookie level once the tying-run comes to bat.
It seem that thru the quick sim engine SV/BSV % are quite good.

I think Quick Manage runs on the sim engine... then I'd expect stats to come out fairly similarly to simmed games, in which case I wouldn't expect them to be that off.

I've read and seen some (somewhat) inopportune hooks on closers, but I'm not aware of people talking about excessive blown saves in simmed games. Is there any issue?

maybe it was just a freak thing. not sure though, as I have taken to improve the Clutch rating and so forth. are you still planning to simulate cpu vs cpu live, every game ? I plan to QM most games in three separate Franchises. All 2,430 games of the schedule. the LRP abuse of IP really spurred me to make sure the stats are realistic. kinda like playing OOTP.

I am playing the 94, 07, and 17 season files to keep things fresh.
