    When did they change this?

Today I was playing a game and I noticed the pitch release bar in the lower left hand corner now displays a big yellow circle with little yellow dots around it. Did this change with today's patch?

Before today that wasn't yellow on my game. Instead, it showed 2 paranthesis in the middle of the strike zone like this:

Yes, this was changed in the patch. I believe the devs' intent was to show where the sweet spot is located, and to show how contact quality drops off a cliff once you go outside it.

It doesn't change the hitting mechanics, only that display in the swing analysis. And you can still use whichever PCI you want while actually hitting in real time.

      Thanks!

I play with directional hitting/buttons for input. If I were to turn the PCI off what effect would it have on my hitting?

Absolutely nothing - the PCI's only an indicator of where the hitter's plate coverage is, and on directional it doesn't even appear to move from the middle in swing analysis (it actually does, but it does so under-the-hood according to the batter's ratings) You'll still see the PCI in the swing analysis even if you turn PCI off from the options, so as a directional user you might want to consider turning off Swing/Pitch info from the general tab. This will also remove the pitch callout (the red or blue ball icon immediately after a pitch), but you'll still get the pitch type and mph in the upper-left score box.

Good stuff, thank you for the detailed explanation!

As the batter, how do I apply this info to my at bats?
