I was having fun playing the game on 1.06 and had no issues, so whatever patch 1.07 "fixed" didnt help me at all since it broke hitting. I want to go back to 1.06.

You cannot.
Only a physical copy has the ability to "revert" a patch (and by that I mean going back to the "out-of-the-box" initial state) You can't go back to a previous patch version, period. -

I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure you can't uninstall individual patches. And I don't think you'd be able to install only up to 1.06. But you'd start by uninstalling the game. Turn off your internet connection and then reinstall. You won't be able to play any online modes afaik. So have fun.
I'm still not sure why people are having an issue with hitting. I usually play on AS with a little HoF mixed in and haven't had any issues.
