How do you handle Franchise Injuries

Using 30 team control. How do you determine who goes on DL or not and for how long for each team?

1-6 day injury I manually remove the injury

1-2 weeks I put on the 10 day DL

Anything longer I put on 60 day DL and as season progresses I randomly select players to take off the DL.

How do you handle bizarre injuries?

Like a pitcher getting a fractured hand and missing 2-3 months. As of now I've been throwing those guys on 60 day but feel that's such a weird Injury to a pitcher I might just manually change it to a strain and have them miss 2 weeks instead.

Also feel like the Fractured Arm is The Shows version of Tommy John.

I let it fly. However they are injured, that's what they get. It really makes me feel like I have to work at it. If my ace goes down, who's going to fill his role. If my league leading hitter injures out, how am I going to get another potential star to show me what he has. My view is injuries happen to stars just like they happen to scrubs. Its next man up to show me what you got.

I believe elbow surgery is what Tommy John's is.

Re: How do you handle Franchise Injuries

I follow everything that happens IRL, whether it be injuries, trades, etc, so whatever is going on IRL is going on in my franchise.

I am thinking about doing a 2nd franchise this yr, where I let things play out however the game determines. I just can decide if I want to use a OSFM roster for this franchise or use the SCEA fake MILB players, but I would edit them so they dont have wonky ratings, and stupid unrealistic names and looks. I know it would take a lot of editing to fix SCEA's fake MILB players, so not sure I want that headache, but I also know how OCD I am, to where I would have a hard time using real MILB players, and just letting it play out however the game dictates, lol.

I too let it fly. Whatever happens to my players, happens. If a player gets injured then so be it! I've had superstars go down, and it's been tough on my team, makes it more interesting.

I also do 30 team control. I let the CPU teams assign their injured players as they see fit. Almost all the 1-6 day players are on the bench and I do the same for my team. They generally assign the 10 day DL most other injuries up to 6 months (Robinson Cano last night out for the year!). I usually review all the teams toward the end of the calendar month to see how they are performing, who is on the 10 day that can move to the 60 if it makes sense to open a roster spot for someone from AAA or free agency and make the appropriate moves. For my team I will move players to the 60 Day a little faster than the CPU does. I don't pay attention to the injury type, just the duration and how it impacts the teams.

Re: How do you handle Franchise Injuries

I have injuries at 9 for both simmed games and played games as this seems to get the most realistic amount of injuries per team.

At any one time in real life there are 150-200 players on the MLB DL.

We only have about 60% of the players that a real life organisation has but we also complete FAR FEWER transactions so it is still realistic to have 150 MLBers on the DL.

The new 10 day DL will also contribute to higher numbers. Teams can and will use this to give guys rests and give MLB time to prospects and AAAA guys throughout the season.

e.g. Bartolo Colon is not actually hurt, but the Braves just placed him on the 10 day DL because he has been terrible for nearly a month. He has a bobble head night coming up so instead of DFAing him they're saying he has an oblique strain.

Exactly the same approach I take with 30 team control. I look monthly at the CPU injuries in depth and move guys to the 60 day if it makes sense.

I let all injuries fly. It makes things far more interesting.

I actually moved injuries up to 6 on simmed games and play games with them at 9.

I am considering going to 8 on simmed games. I also am there with you on the amount of injuries in the real MLB. It is crazy the amount of payers that get hurt every year for all 30 teams.

But anyone considering doing this.....be ready to deal with a lot of big name players going down. Because down they will go!!

I'm just starting May... and I started the franchise with all of the real life injured players added to the DL manually. So I haven't had enough sample to say if 9 is too high, but I think it's closer than 5-6.

I'm mostly player locking my prospects in my Braves franchise (and using 9 for those games) and won't be playing a lot of MLB games until 2018-19 so we'll see how it goes.

I only started a week ago so I should be finished with 2017 soon and will report back. But yes, injuries are happening!

Decided not to play god with the injury report. The only injury that is a head scratcher is a having a fractured forearm for Max Schzer.

Also decided for 1-6 day injuries for position players to keep on and not be removed. This gives bench players more opportunities to play.

How for pitchers with 1-6 day injury that have a start during that time frame I'll throw them on the 10 day and bring up a spot starter.

I handle it by turning injuries OFF. Lol! I know, I know. Just don't enjoy dealing with that stuff. I do have the guys that are out for the entire season in A ball, tho.
