    Trade waivers.

Maybe I'm missing something but I don't think I've ever noticed this on the game. But after dimming past July 31st there are TONS of players placed on waivers. And big name players, Zach Britton, Andrew McCutchen, Manny Machado, Charlie Blackmon, to name a few.

What gives here? Why does this happen and do I need to stop it somehow?

That's normal. It happens in real life. Those big name players get pulled back after being claimed. Only ones that slip through are ones with huge contracts that are past their prime.

Pass through waivers so they can be traded after deadline. It's waivers the CPU team can pull back on. Several years ago u could abuse it and CPU wouldn't pull back if u put a claim on them, but I think SCEA has cleaned that up.

I turned the CPU teams to manual and left them off just in case.

There's really no need. The game handles post-Jul 31 trades properly.

Do you remember a couple of years ago when Cole Hamels was placed on revocable waivers when he was still with the Phillies and the Cubs placed a claim on him and tried to work out a trade (that was never going to happen)? That's what this is. Teams do it just in case they might want to trade a guy after the non-waiver (July 31) deadline. It's never reported because of the sheer amount of names that are put out during that time.
