So there was a thread I had read recently that I can't find now about confidence being the biggest factor in successful hitting (it wasn't the topic of the thread but it kind of evolved into it). The blue overall confidence bar, not the individual pitch one. Regardless of if you agree, my experience is that it at the very least plays a big part.
So short story, my closer gives up a grand slam. His confidence was 50-60 percent beforehand, now it's at 0%. I take him out and put him in to close the next game. His confidence starts at slightly higher, around 10%. Needless to say he didn't have a chance of pitching decently.
So, what fixes this? Does he need to sit out a few games? I understand his confidence shouldn't start at 70% after being at 0% the game before. But with this mechanic it seems I can't use him at all, especially as a closer. Any advice is appreciated.
