Incorrect Stat Keeping in Franchise (Saves)
I was playing a game in Franchise yesterday, up 5-2 going into the ninth. As the inning starts, my set-up guy is still on the mound, meaning I forgot to schedule to bring in my closer. I do so immediately before throwing a pitch to actually begin the play. My closer records three outs in short order, and afterwards I notice that he isn't credited with a save, which he should have been (opponent within three runs). Was this because I didn't schedule to put him in, as I usually do? Or is this a legitimate issue? Are there any other stats that don't get tabulated correctly?Last edited by timelydew; 07-06-2017, 03:19 AM.Tags: None -

If your closer got the final out in a game 3 runs or less then he should've been credited with the save.

Re: Incorrect Stat Keeping in Franchise (Saves)
My first thought was that it was a Quick Counts thing. But I never had a problem with saves using QC earlier in the year when I was playing with them, and I never use the "schedule to enter game" function because it's buggy and usually the pitcher enters with reduced energy and confidence.
So, either a bug was introduced in a patch after I stopped using quick counts for the year (assuming OP was even using QC) or it was a rare glitch.Impact de Montréal

Not exactly. For a pitcher to get a save with a three run lead he needs to pitch a full inning or enter with a man on base. But yes, based on the OP's description, a save should have been given.

Also, I don't use Quick Counts.Last edited by timelydew; 07-07-2017, 04:22 AM.Comment

Re: Incorrect Stat Keeping in Franchise (Saves)
It indeed was a bona fide, three-out save scenario with a three-run lead. I thought maybe the loophole was not scheduling him to pitch, but I don't recall that ever being an issue. Perhaps it was an aberration. Luckily, I'd saved the game after my previous game, so not much was lost. I simmed the game upon reloading the file and won 16-2, haha. I'll be keeping a close eye on it, though. I'm neurotic about stat-keeping and it pissed me off, haha.

I stand corrected. I could've sworn I have put in my closer for the final out when he is low on energy and still get a save (with the bases empty). Maybe I just imagined it.

I've gotten two out saves when I forgot to bring the closer in for the first batter of the inning.Comment
