    Player Development and Promotions

I hope I can get some help from someone with more experience. Playing The Show I usually only make it through two-three seasons so I never pay much attention to the development. On to the questions.

I have a guy in AA 20yr old 3B that was rated a 60 with C potential. Through two months he is absolutely raking leads AA in batting .378 .426obp 16doubles. He had 7 homeruns 31rbis. I've seen zero improvement in his attributes besides -1 to speed. Is this something I am doing wrong that he is not improving even though he is doing so well or do I need to promote him to get him to improve?

Two months isn't that long... if he keeps raking into August you should see a bump in some ratings.

But there isn't much you can do. Do you have training on auto? Maybe try manual and pick some attributes you want him to improve on. No guarantee that will work though, it seems kind of random to me.

He could be a low C (71-72) potential which means he won't improve much from where he is now. Maybe only 2-3 points in a year. For next 2-3 years. But remember it's the individual ratings that are important, not the Overall.

I've also noticed that players get more of a ratings bump over the winter than they do during the season.

Potential rules. Go to the edit player screen and look at the potential rating under attributes. Knowing the letter grade is merely a ballpark attribute. Trea Turner has a B potential but it's an 80, so his ratings start going down immediately even if he's doing ok. Same with Thor -- A potential but it's a 90. Urias on the other hand is an A/99, so even if he gets throttled he'll go up.

There's some randomness to progression, but not much. And training seems to have a very minimal effect on progress. I hope that they flesh out player development next year -- specific coaches/camps that can really boost player attributes when young, differentiating between static attributes (speed, arm strength, power to a lesser degree) and ones that can really develop with experience (vision, discipline, reaction, etc.). On that note, having prospects with attribute spreads that actually make sense would be a priority too. We get a lot of A/B prospects with HUGE holes in their games -- that's not real life, at least not to that extent.

Make sure to up the durability attribute for everyone to 75-80 too -- right now durability means stamina AND injury risk, which is beyond asinine. It's a double-whammy.

It looks like he is a mid C 76 Potential. I have him training weight training which is effecting his Power and Arm strength. His fielding attributes are awful so I was trying to focus on improving those. I will have to put this on the back burner until the offseason and see the changes to attributes to get a true sense of change
