I'm not the only one right? This is probably my biggest frustration with this game right now. How can you have these ball physics at release and lose it post patch? I don't understand that. I also don't make video games though so there must be some sort of explanation.

Balls down the line
So a big feature this year was suppose to be the ball physics allowing grounders hit down the lines tail off and turn into doubles like in real life. Initially I saw this happen. I'm not sure which patch changed it however, because I don't see that anymore. I definitely see tailing line drives and balls hit over the heads of outfielders, but not as cool as it looked on the initial version of the game. This is most frustrating when hard hit grounders down the lines are getting past the corner infielders and staying fair all the way down the line keeping me or the CPU at 1st instead of getting into 2nd standing up.

Re: Balls down the line
You're playing with fire by creating a thread like this. You'll get bashed by some, and agreeance from others.
Personally, I know that this has changed. I play this game daily and have seen the difference from when I first got the game to now in terms of the ball physics, especially on balls hit down the line.
Developers and the staff here have continuously disagreed with this claim and say that nothing has changed, but we all know it definitely has. Just watch the trailers for the game where this feature was shown off, and you'll notice that those things never happen anymore. Balls will be hit down the line and continue on a straight path to the wall, still in fair territory. Before, we had some curve and balls rolling into the corners against the wall.
Just be careful and expect to get some hate here. This has been brought up time and time again, but it won't be fixed because they don't believe anything changed.Comment

Re: Balls down the line
I think the issue is more that some people only play certain modes and a lot of these things can be greatly different based on mode, skill level, taste, expectations, and even rosters.
Other thing is you really don't want a forum full of people complaining about the game. As long as you aren't doing it constantly or rehashing something that all ready has a thread you will be all right.
Just ignore the people that ignore your concerns. Talk to the people who have similar issues. That is really the way to go in life, not just on this forum.
I love this game and I am not a big fan of the changes they have made to hitting.Comment

Re: Balls down the line
Pretty sure they toned down all that stuff to nerf the power on those backspin line drives that went on forever. Ever since that went away, all the new cool looking hits seemed to go as well. Or I could be entirely wrong, they make not even have a "spin slider"Comment

Re: Balls down the line
I hadn't really thought about it, but now that I do I think you are right. The ball has seemed to lose a lot of it's spin when it hits the ground. I don't think it's completely gone, but it's certainly toned down a lot.
Too bad, but I'm not overly concerned about it. I mean, it does suck that it's gone AWOL, but the Show is and always will be a WIP. Next year's version they will have hacked out the details and have better implementation, just like the human ik and fielding from 16 to 17.
Then again, I'd love for a patch to bring it back. Either way I'll wait patiently for the solution.Comment

Re: Balls down the line
I'm definitely not seeing balls on the ground curve towards the corners anymore. Any ball in the air still has a ton of spin, but grounders do seem to have the old physics to them. I thought it was where I turned my foul frequency from 3 to 2, but never did any real tests to see.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Balls down the line
The real issue is the lack of acknowledgement from the developers. Telling us we're wrong isn't a way to take constructive feedback when nearly everybody can agree that something isn't the same way it was the day the game was launched.Comment

It's definitely tuned down, but I think it's for the better. Before it seemed like only movement I would see from playing wiffleball.

Re: Balls down the line
The purpose of my post was not to complain, but rather to see if others were experiencing the same issues. I'm glad but also disappointed to see that others are experiencing the same thing. It's unfortunate that this was such a strong feature at release but has completely gone away, at least for me it has. But for the first year of new ball physics, I'm hopeful next year will be improved, consistent, and become a staple for the future of this series. These developers are fantastic, I'm sure they will get it spot on next year. I'm sure it is one of their top objectives.Comment
