    Tuners.

I don't say this often but SCEA could really take a page out of an EA Sports series. NHL in particular. I really like how (at least the way they used to) they give you the option to use any of the "tuner," sets that they make when updating the game. In other words I wish SCEA would allow us to select which "various gameplay improvements," we want to use. I'm talking specifically about the gameplay changes under the hood that are often not disclosed when the information is released in the update log.

That way we could use the sluggfest that was this game out of the box or the 1.09 update that results in the resurrection of the second Dead Ball Era.

    Re: Tuners.

I always find it weird when I see posts like this as I haven't had any issues hitting. I led the league in HR's season 2 and had extremely high numbers. I just started season 2 the other day and in 9 games I've hit 10 HR's and 20 Doubles (which falls right in line with MLB averages prior to this year) and I still lead the league in team batting average so safe to say I'm not seeing the hitting issues that so many others are or have been.

I use directional so the CPU pitching sliders and overall difficulty will for sure make a difference when it comes to using directional hitting.

EDIT - As for being able to select which tuner you want to use, I couldn't agree more. I was saying the same thing regarding Madden last year so I know exactly what you're saying.

      Re: Tuners.

I get what Gagnon is saying. If I wanted to do a dead ball era without doing a massive roster overhaul, I'd have to play on Legend hitting and Veteran pitching or something of the like.

Play a few games online. You'll see. The top rated boys in the Show are hitting below the Mendoza line.

Yeah if the issues mentioned only pertain to online then strike my comment as I don't play online at all, strictly an offline franchise guy. I assumed gagnon was referencing offline since I've seen him talk about his offline franchise multiple times but maybe he plays both and his post was regarding online and not offline at all.

            Re: Tuners.

That is exactly why in my opinion we are seeing such a wide variety of reviews of this game. I am an offline player and have my power at 4 and getting good results. The video of the drunk runner.....I have never witnessed that but I don't play online. I think they are two completely different animals when it comes to gameplay. There are also a wide variety in what people want to see in the game of baseball, some like pitching duels, others like slugfests and then you get into the various skill levels of players.

Every version of the show has had it's quirks. 16 had the rainbow throws from the infield, defensive lack of urgency and the Top Fuel catcher behind the plate that can run down Billy Hamilton.....but there are some guys playing 16 while their version of 17 sits on the shelf collecting dust. That is their choice and it's all about finding your level of fun. I will stay with 17 and wait for the 3rd string utility infielder to get behind the plate and irritate me, but it irritates me less than the track star catcher in 16.

To each his own.....PLAY BALL !!
