You can use the search tool, been plenty on hitting over the years and it is all pretty much still applicable. The most important thing is that you are a disciplined hitter and have a good approach - that is regardless of what kind of hitting options you use.
That said, there are 2 types of analog hitting. One is directional hitting with an analog input. In which case, you just use a flick for a swing instead of a button press but it is otherwise directional hitting.
Directional hitting is basically a timed hitting mechanism. Since you don't have to match up the zone, the trade off is a smaller timing window in order to get good timing. See the ball, time the swing. That's it. There are times that you might want to try to hit a ball to the right side or avoid a double play but that is all directional hitting does, really. Oh, and it does move the smaller timing window slightly - so trying to go the other way with a slightly later timing window does make it easier to catch up to a fastball.
Pure analog is still the same approach and has a smaller timing window than zone, but that is because you can swing inside or outside. You also give up the contact swing in reality as that puts the PCI out of the strike zone as for as I can tell. The computer semi-randomly chooses up or down with some influence on your timing and player ratings.

Big thing is the timing window, at least to me seems much smaller so I would start much higher than default and work you way down. If you are finding it too easy lower the timing window down a notch until you find your sweet spot
