MLB 17 The Show RTTS Player Trade Logic Is A Joke

So I'm a shortstop on the Mets organization since the '15 rtts mode. Work my way up from the minors and finally get to the majors in the 2016 season as a part-time player. Keep at it and now I'm a legit weapon at the 3 spot with a pretty solid 2017 lineup. Our pitching is top-notch and we are a clutch team who just comes up just short in the '17 World Series to the Dodgers.

I'm feeling pretty good moving into the offseason with my team, we're maybe one decent pro level batter away from being a force to be messed with...then the AI logic decides to trade away Cespedes, Conforto, Wilmer Flores and an A-talent outfielder who was just called up the season prior and had been killing it, for two 4.00+ ERA scrub pitchers and Matt Adams?!?! What?? Meanwhile, a 36 yr old David Wright is still getting 13mil a year from us. All while producing nothing but splinters on the bench. Whatta friggin joke!

My team that was contending for a title, was stripped to a sub-500 flaming pile of mediocrity in one offseason. The logic in this mode is ludicrously flawed!! Took away pretty much all the fun and excitement I had for it. Come back stronger next year SDS. Cause' you air balled the sh!t out of this layup.

That's why you keep 2 save files.

And if you're really invested in keeping your rtts fun, keep reloading until the results are satisfactory. Just see my road to the Show post. My angels traded for Jose Ramirez/Kris Davis/Joc Pederson/Daniel Murphy/Adam Eaton/Eric Thames/Mitch Haniger etc. we've signed Craig Kimbrel in the offseason.. it's a great team all because I kept two saves

Had I let it flow naturally, no way I would have been continuing to play with the logic it has sometimes

      1) I wasn't sure there was another entire thread that may have touched on the AI logic.

      2) I read your posts on the other thread Mbunn1993. Unbelievable. Your team is a murderers row! Even your bullpen is good.

It seems I was mistaken about the Cespedes trade. The team let him walk cause he was in his free agency year. Guess they didn't want to resign him. But that still makes zero point zero sense to bounce your other 3 top young talent players out of town for nothing.

So I took you up on your pro tip and went back to a save point I made earlier that season and just simmed thru til the offseason. Same outcome, we lost to the Dodgers in the WS. I save before the offseason begins so I can see different outcomes. Every scenario involves Cespedes walking, which sucks. Every scenario also involves David Wright staying/not retiring and swallowing a huge chunk of payroll to not even play one game for us on the bench (smh). We always seem to pick up Mitch Moreland for a one year deal, which I don't mind but that's it. Conforto or Flores is always traded away. And don't me started on the bullpen. For some reason, we pick up a 63 rated Joba Chamberlain (how are you automatically not in AAA with that rating?!) along with a bunch of scrubs and Jeurys Familia devolves into a closer that blows every other game for them in a closer situation.

Obviously I'm disgusted with the outcome and keep starting over. Almost always same result. Is there a "magic number" amount of times to try and get at least a decent outcome? Is this based on the admittedly inept-in real-life Mets front office? Sorry about the long post whoever read up to this point. Just frustrated with how my fun rtts experience went to crap for no good reason.

I created a RTTS first baseman for the Rockies last year, and after 3 seasons, only Trevor Story was left from the original lineup. They traded everyone else away or didn't resign them when they became FA's. Very disheartening to be part of a really good lineup, and then have nothing around you once you get your ratings up.

How did you lose to the Dodgers in the WS playing as the Mets?

You just got up to the big leagues you said, with my RTTS player I was there for the entirety of my first 6 years languishing on a team with wasted talent, better get used to it. But in general the trades may not seem to make a lot of sense but just as in real baseball, things can swing wildly year to year. Good players do get traded for scrubs sometimes, or what appear to be scrubs at the time. Did anyone think that essentially trading Todd Frazier for Jose Peraza and Scott Schebler was a good move at the time? Seemed to be a speedy guy with all glove and no bat and a journeyman outfield bench player. Now they're both really good players this year for the Reds. (Peraza was actually better last year, but he's still gonna be fine) In my experience it works the same on The Show. The teams are a bit more loose with their top talent than they would be in real life, but generally every team has a plan and when it works out it's pretty awesome to see. And yes, sometimes those head scratching moves actually do work out, only time will tell.

And really the Mets are not in a good situation this year IRL or on The Show. They blew the team up on your save file just as they did in real life this year. It happens.

Use the trade slider, it helps quite a bit.

Definitely got ahead of myself there, my fault. Meant to say the NL division series. Thanks for catching that.

Well I reload every trade deadline and offseason, and there are definently instances that will repeat themselves. ALOT (same exact signings, trades etc). But there will be different ones. All I can tell you is to keep reloading as long as your patience allows you lol.

Like I said, had I just said "f it" and went into a season not happy, or at the trade deadline, I'd get the same feeling everyone does (cpu logic is ****, f this mode) but its kept it extremely refreshing

The Jose Ramirez trade happened year 1 trade deadline. Out of probably 50+ reloads, the Jose trade only happened twice. I took the 2nd one as it was better. Same with the Daniel Murphy trade in the offseason after year 2

In your offseason, sim up until the phone call from your agent talking to you about your season. Make your save right after that, then sim past the Orlando meetings (dont worry about your contract). If you arent getting satisfactory results, maybe they just arent possible. Take what they can do, and repeat at the trade deadline. "Trust the process" lol

I gotcha. Do you also think the contract you also agree to in the offseason with your rtts guy matters?

Like 1 year deals, long-term deals, agreement to much lower pay during arbitration so that your team can possibly use that extra money to get better players/talent? Thanks again.
