I have always thought on the same lines as nemesis:  celebrate the sport. 
One cover athlete is disappointing, as if that one athlete is the only player worthy of recognition.  Celebrate this perfect game with a collage-like poster-worthy cover with players, stadiums, equipment, and the nuances of the game. 
Quite abstract, but with the creativity that exists today within the graphic artist world, a cover like that would be quite spectacular.

Obvious, perhaps, but I'll say Altuve or Bryce Harper as it's his free agency year in 2018.

Seriously though I'm guessing it will be Judge, Stanton, or Altuve. You could make a case for all three, but Stanton I think won't get it because of the trade talk surrounding him.

With the Astros pulling off the World Series I'm leaning Altuve. However, if they want to continue the cycle of a legend on the cover I'm down for another new legend.

Just a reminder that the cover athlete was decided upon a while ago. So while the Astros winning the World Series means somebody like Springer or Altuve is a timely choice, SCEA had to decide long before the playoffs.

Altuve was MVP well before the World Series too which is why he'd have my vote, plus he's a unique and likeable player.

Regardless, I just hope carryover saves work this time around...
