Why can’t we preorder physical copies of mlb 18 on amazon?

Amazon only lets you preorder digital copies but not physical copies. However on the amazon Canada store you can preorder both.

That's what I'm thinking too, although I went back and looked and I had the physical edition of 17 pre-ordered on October 28th last year.

Pre orders have been weird on Amazon lately where some games only the digital versions we're available to pre order.

Amazon doesn't put physical copies on their website until release date, so we don't get the discount. This is why I switched to Best Buy's Gamers Club Unlocked in September because of this nonsense. Every website has the physical copies except Amazon (this was the case with the NBA games in September). GCU is just the better investment. I've been a Prime member since 2014 and I made the switch. It's worth every penny if you are in the US.

I too have ordered physical copies from Amazon ahead of release and received the Prime Members discount. I'm wondering if SCEA has prohibited Amazon from selling physical copies as long as they are offering their perks for preordering from the PlayStation store. Because if it's only digital why buy from Amazon? You wouldn't get half the perks... and no early release. In fact, (unless I missed it) the only thing I see at the moment from pre-ordering a digital copy from Amazon is their pre-price guarantee.

This is the route I am taking. I will probably still buy the game but have to see adjustment and improvements to gameplay and Off-Line Franchise

I wouldn't know as I don't pre-order video games. It is too early to invest in a game way before it comes out. You can easily get it by the 3rd or 4th day with no problems usually

The same thing happened with Madden 17. The physical copies showed up right before release date. That said, I get the feeling EA, Amazon (and maybe others) are trying to push people to a digital only market (saves on cost for them, plus eliminates the ability to return games and/or buy used games, which increases sales). That might be part of what is going on here.

Well said NimitsTexan... It's all about the Benjamins right?
I have always purchased from Amazon because of the prime discount. However, with no physical pre-order discount there is no contest as to who I will purchase from because Amazon digital is not offering the perks Playstation is.
However, one of the primary reasons I don't like digital is your point of the inability to return games, take games to a friend, or even get trade-in $ from Amazon or Gamestop. So, I'm hoping Amazon will come out with physical copies or I'm buying digital from PS.
