I do like that it has some minor variance depending on the player's ending animation. But yeah. Temperament should play into it. A fiery pitcher should be spinning and emotive. But I'd love to have a guy who just sprints off the field after a punch out.

The foundation was pretty mature in 17. I don't think it was particularly a great game, but it was an okay alpha for this year. I'm really hoping to see some polish in 18.

Just to add, I could live without the relief pitcher coming in and dropping his glove every other time.
Really wish sports games played to ratings!
Only thing SIM about sports games now, are the team name and players
        CFB 25 The absolute GOAT!!!
MLB 23 FOREVER 20 is better, 23 just for Guardians
Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.

I am cool with anyone who does not care for a game....because it is just a game. But that statement is pretty damn condescending to this development team that puts their heart and soul into arguably the best console sports game on the market.

Whether you realize what an Alpha build is or you used the word loosely....I don’t know. But the game in it’s current state offline (I won’t talk about online play which has been a big disappointment no question) is pretty outstanding. Nothing is ever perfect. Ever.

This was easily the biggest leap we have had since the PS4 dropped. Over 300 games and I still see new hit types (the ball physics on this title are simply incredible).

Anyway. I am very much looking forward to some great upgrades for 18.

One could make the argument that, if the devs read this board and actually give a single care about what we think, your comment about "arguably the best console sports game on the market" can be just as detrimental. No need to fluff their ego's needlessly. It is in no way the "best" console sports game. ITs the best baseball game for sure, but every other sports franchise has far surpassed the Show in realism, immersion, engine, and attention to detail. I am in no way bagging on the Show, I love it. I will probably still get 18. But, by and large, this is the exact same game we had on the PS3. A couple tweaks here and there to an existing and aging engine isnt innovation or pushing the edge. Neither is a retro mode. The game has felt as if its been on cruise control the last few iterations.

                  Actually I have.

I've owned and played every iteration of the series that has been released.

Then you're homering if you think cosmetic changes and wonky ball physics mean this game is vastly different than the game released 5 years ago.

I bought a PlayStation 4 in 2013 just because of this series and waited for MLB 14. Just under 4 years later, my PS4 is 2000 miles away and it belongs to someone else. They don't care about the fundamentals of simulation gameplay so topics like these are the lowest priority to those who matter. Granted, they do have a lot of other serious issues to prioritize, such as online and various features and physics to be added or improved. When the series thrived on the PS3 era, one of the motto's they embraced was "the little things". I'd like to know what the motto is now.

I would love to see less of the "180 hop and spin" the pitchers do after a ball is put in play/strikeout. I feel like I see that animation 95% of the time.

I will respectively and whole heartedly disgaree.

I have played all the other sports games and the only one that is ahead of them in terms of immersion/presentation is NBA 2K18

                                Madden and NHL? Come on.

Same game as PS3? Absolutely not.

The ball physics are a total game changer.

                                Agree to disagree.

And I don’t sugar coat and stroke these guys egos. I have had meaningful and constructive discussions with devs from SDS.

They are not perfect nor is their game.

It replicates their respective sport better than any other sports game on the market IMO.

And if you are not using Sounds of The Show you are missing out on a major immersion feature that makes playing franchise mode amazing.
