Frame Rate Issues (Standard vs Pro Console)

Can someone who plays the game on a PS4 Pro tell me whether or not frame rate problems exists?

Before 18 comes out, I'm willing to buy a Pro, but only if it eliminates all the frame rate / stutter problems that's plagued some stadiums since 16. If the problems are only slightly better, then its not worth the $400 investment in my opinion.

Frame rate on PS4 Pro is superb when you enable HFR mode. Watching YouTube videos won't do true 60 FPS justice, either. Only stutters I ever actually get would be in cutscenes, but even those are pretty good.

I am a huge stickler for framerate as well.

I'm a PC master race guy, with an overclocked 7700k and a 1080, all hooked up to a 144hrz 1080p gsync monitor, and yeah the pro makes a big difference in the show.

I've only noticed the slightest of hiccups during scene transitions, and I think that it is an engine limitation, not a hardware one. Having consistent framerates no matter the stadium or size of the audience has been such a huge boon during gameplay for me.

I gain no benefit from Enhanced Visuals with my 26'' non HDR/4k monitor that I play on, so High Frame Rate is really my only option.

And it's still worth it just for that smoothness in gameplay.

I'm also looking at buying a Pro before '18 drops so I'm curious if the feedback in this thread as well. But Im content with my HD Samsung and will still be playing on my non 4K tv.

For the guys responding, are the majority of you guys with the pro playing with or without a 4k tv/display?

For most of the year I played on a 24 “1080p monitor, so high frame rate is all I used and it was great. However recently I purchased a 28” 4K monitor and notice a considerable difference when using enhanced visuals . Less jaggy lines and an overall sharper image, but it does come with some frame rate slowdown at times

Thanks for the responses y'all. Like another stated, I'm also a PC Master Race guy whom only owns a PS4 for MLB and FIFA. The frame rates kill me on the inside...especially playing in any AL West or AL Central stadium.

I'm not sure dropping $400 to fix a problem for one game is money well spent, but getting the game optimized better isn't an option either. Only fixes / updates this series will get from now on are for the cash grab modes.

If only SCEA would release The Show on PC...

I have a PS4 Pro, playing on a 4K/HDR TV with the Enhanced Visuals setting and it looks fantastic on my tv, but there is an occasional framerate hitch. It's not horrible but certainly noticable. It's still super playable though, if it weren't I would have switched to HFR mode by now.

4K mode is unplayable though, unfortuantely.

Got a Pro over the holiday...and I'm actually surprised as to how much of a difference it makes. It's a breath of fresh air being able to play in the stadiums with retractable roofs.

I've only played on high frame rate mode, and it's really been a treat so far.

I'm playing on a old HD samsung plasma from the notties. I will play on that TV until it dies.

I will chime in on this!

First I have a 1080P Samsung TV. I also own a PS4 and a PS4 Pro.

I brought the PS4 PRO because I thought it would give me a smoother MLB The Show 17 game! Unfortunately I was actually pretty disappointed even when playing the game on the HFR mode on PS4 PRO.

I did not see a noticeable difference . I play the game in player lock mode and example of this can be seen if you are running to first after you hit the ball and press up on the analog stick to gain speed. The screen still shakes and jitters runner wobbles and just looks awful especially if you continue to round the bases.

I brought the PRO thinking I would see ("buttery smooth") animations even in the one walk off game winning hit or home run sequence in the game you can still see the jitter :/

Now I will say this when you play the game when you are controlling the full team on defense for example. When the camera is above it does look really smooth! But unfortunately I don't play that way! I play from a first person perspective and its been jerky for years unfortunately. Even worse on defense when running for the ball.

I was disappointed enough that I actually almost brought a 4k tv because I wanted to see smoother animations. Like in my Amazon cart ready to hit the buy button disappointed. So it could be a result of my 1080p tv.

Regardless on a regular ps4 pro with 1080p tv. Those player lock animations leave a lot left to be desired!

Actually, I've heard this before. Unfortunately this is the exception. If you play full team, it really is buttery smooth and is not a placebo effect whatsoever.

I don't play RttS or player lock mode, though.
