Re: MLB The Show 18 Twitch Stream - Gameplay & AI, Legend Vladimir Guerrero Announced
Everything looks great! I just noticed that the guard rails which separate the "moat" seats (Rich people seats behind home plate and the dugouts) from the rest of the lower level seats in Yankee Stadium are now black and really stick out...When in fact it's been correct in the past few games where they are just normal aluminum colored like the rest of the rails throughout the stadium...It just really jumped out visually at me since its not correct....The new tagging system looks great, as well as the players making throws and getting to the ball quicker and more realistic...Bravo guys..gonna be a great year!Comment

I know I already mentioned it once. But I just watched the stream again. Boy, the fingers and hands moving on the bats while standing in the box just really adds something. In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Agreed. The throwing error slider left a lot to be desired in 17, so as long as they adjusted that we should be ok.Comment

My only complaint with the stream, I wish they had talked about bunting a bit and showed if that was fixed as well.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

I will be thrilled if the AI doesn't gain extra bases on nonsense wild pitches every game against me.
Likewise, if the lunge tag is gone, I will be happy.
I did like the tagging, assuming it works like the on-cue examples they had. It will be nice to see the infield playing like an infield.
Glad to see that the nonsense overran catch is still there. Really wish that would be toned down and smarter outfield catches would prevail. I know it's minor and for the most part the catches are good, but still.
Didn't really talk about too much else, as always gameplay is nice to see. They spent a lot of time on the PCI and showing us how it works, which was nice I guess. But spending that much time essentially telling us how they added lines to the top and bottom...hey, it's not my game.
I didn't hear anything about pitching and the increased difficulty. That was one of the major things I was wanting to hear.
Overall, encouraged, but not blown away."The designated hitter rule is like letting someone else take Wilt Chamberlain's free throws."

Quick Takeaways
Thought the new tag system looked great. Hated seeing choppy/ghost tags at every base. Although as one member pointed out, there also needs to be instances were the fielder misses the runner’s hand and the runner is safe. It happens sometimes in real life the runner moves their hand or the fielder tags the wrong part of the body and is safe. For example, if sliding feet first, even if the throw beats the runner, the fielder tags the runner’s knee or shoulder this resulting in the runner being safe. The tags look great, hope they’re not automatic though.
I loved how they dove into the hitting. It felt obvious to me since I played baseball at high level and know what it’s like to get under a ball and pop it up even with good timing. But this was good for all of those online internet trolls who claim every ball they square up should be a home run without any regard for the pitcher/hitter attributes, pitch type and location. They just see good timing and relatively good PCI placement and assume it’s a hit.
Really liked the new catcher animations. Not only does it solve the exploiting issues, but it looks and plays smooth and life like for us offline players.
Pumped for Vlad. When he was inducted I tried to find a good Player Vault version with little luck. Should be fun.
During the trailer breakdown, noticed Carlos Correa’s armband was Blue with an Orange number. Believe this is new because it has always been White numbers on wrist/arm bands. Hopefully this leads to further Logo Color Editing for other equipment like batting gloves and fielding gloves would be amazing.
And finally, someone on the Dodgers(I think Maeda) was wearing Mizuno Batting Gloves!

I am glad to see they are adding more Legends. I hope this is in addition to the Legends in MLB 17. My preference is for more different Legends and less multiple cards for the same Legend.Comment

I always feel like I need to preface my criticism with a) I love MLB The Show b) I'm a long-time player of the series and c) overall the improvements are impressive...
However, my big concern with this new tagging system is that everyone is a Javier Baez tagger. Perfect tags on every play. I'd really love to see an attribute for both tagging and sliding. I want there to be a distinct advantage like there is in real life when playing Javier Baez as compared to Ben Zobrist at second base. It also goes for sliding. I wish they had the Javier Baez ninja-slide where he slides around the tag. A close play should be a dice roll of percentages of the runner's sliding ability vs. the fielder's tagging ability. Don't get me wrong, I don't want Baez to be safe every time there's a close play but he should be able to slide around a tag more often than Miguel Cabrera.Last edited by Gagnon39; 02-10-2018, 12:12 PM.Comment

But really bummed no Nike catchers equipment, would have saw it on Sanchez when showing the tagging stuff... Really curious why they cant add more catchers equipment brands.
