Turning that off is like MLB's ideal world where all the base calls are made correctly - i.e what SHOULD happen with replay (but doesn't in reality).

Yes, but that's not what I want. I enjoy having blown calls. I've had them enabled every year I've ever played.

But there's no way to have blown calls enabled without also getting the replay cutscene.

Yeah, I get that. Personally I'm more interested in the game getting it right in the end, so that's why I will use the option until we get a full-blown challenge system.

        I’m the same way.

I’m not a replay fan, in any sport, and enjoy the missed call here and there. When the challenge screen pops up I immediately select no challenge despite if the call is in my favor or not.

Really wish we could turn it off

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

          You CAN turn it off.

Go to Options - User Settings - User Settings - Gameplay Options

Then R1 until you get to General. Then R2 for Advanced and go down to Umpire Close Plays. Hit right or left on the directional pad until it says Off.

Now you will NEVER see the Challege Call prompt at first base anymore.

I enjoy the blown calls, just wish we could challenge them at other bases, and that we can self initiate them.

Or if you are wanting the game to make mistakes, miss calls, on the base paths, you have that option as well.

IMO, having an expanded replay just adds a "gimmick", or extra step, to achieving those two goals.
I'm in the boat that wants expanded replay, and while you are correct, there is a more specific reason why it is needed. I do not want a robotic strike zone. I like that each umpire has a unique zone and that there can be missed calls on pitches. In order to have this I have to put up with missed calls at second or third base that replay would otherwise correct. That's why I want replay, so I can have those missed calls during an at-bat but still get the base-running calls correct like they would be in real life. Sure, they don't need to expand the replay system for this. They just need to separate the strike zone calls and other calls in their "perfect umpires" setting.

I think what they are saying is they would like blown calls without the challenge scene playing.

I thought the balls and strikes option was different than the bases option.

They do separate them. Umpire Accuracy (toggleable between Personalized, Average, and Perfect) and Umpire Close Plays are two seperate options under General - Advanced. If you turned Close Plays off and put accuracy on Personalized, you will get correct base calls and strike zones that vary based on the umpire (yes, they have tendencies and Harold Reynolds usually calls those out early in a game)
