Regarding this trend of faster games and quicker simming, don't worry about it, it's just a phase.

Re: Phases speculation
SpoilerSadly, removing rules is a lot harder than putting them in, and this is probably here to stay. The 154-game schedule is sniffing closer and closer.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Phases speculation
Speaking of September call-ups, they were listed as a talking point in the franchise changes blog they're going to do in a month. Right now call-ups are broken in two ways:
1. You can't call up players from your minor league teams that are in the playoffs, you have to manually move people around (ie: if your AAA and AA teams are both in the playoffs....you have to send players you want to call up all the way down to Single A and then call them up as an annoying workaround)
2. The game automatically calls up every player on the 40 even if you have no use for them at that time, when in real life teams rarely if ever call up everyone on their 40. There is no point in giving somebody a month of service time just to sit on the bench all month.
Hope both of these are fixed, especially #2Comment

Re: Phases speculation
I agree with Blzer in that it has something to do with rebuild/contention phases. It could be the core of goals and objectives, determine fan attendance, payroll budgets... it could even determine trade logic, for CPU controlled teams.
That's my guess, anyway.Comment

Re: Phases speculation
If it is just another way to sim faster then that would be a serious kick in the teeth. You'd hope if they've highlighted certain "phases" that are important they would at least do something to make them important with improved AI for trades and roster moves etc, but it's hard to be too optimisticComment

Re: Phases speculation
I feel like some of you guys might be building this up to a bit more than it's gonna be. My view is PHASES will basically be a re-packaging of events we already have into a slightly different user interface that makes the events more accessible, organized and easier to participate in.
That’s exactly what I’m thinking it is as well. Hopefully I’m wrong and will be pleasantly surprised when the franchise stream rolls around and unveils some cool new things.Comment

Re: Phases speculation
Did people not see the Correa screenshot? That tells us everything we need to know about what Phases is. I can already assume what the devs are going to say for that stream. But still looking forward to hearing the small details as well as hopefully other changes they've put into Franchise mode. I do believe the devs said something about September call ups actually matter this year and stuff like that, which is its own Phase per the Correa screenshot.Comment

Re: Phases speculation
Don't worry, many of my posts largely get ignored as well at times.
I almost wish I didn't see the screenshot, anyway. Makes speculation less fun and makes the ideas that could have come into play feel a bit moot (unless they take them into account for future years).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Phases speculation
I think this might not be too far off. It would be interesting to see if CPU-controlled teams manage rosters differently in different phases depending on where they are in the standings and so on. It could also be interesting if the game builds-in certain "goals" into each phase...like a goal for the trade deadline for a contender being to acquire a new SP or a "big bat" based on team needs.Comment
