need some help here as i'm ready to preorder.

I have a $50 BB gift card so was going to use that and the game would be virtually free after GC for the standard edition.

But now thinking about getting the MVP edition since i'll end up paying only $10.

But question : for regular edition it says you get a legend pack. For the MVP you don't get a legend pack. is that accurate? I'd rather get a legend than get a classic stadium.

I'm not sure if you get the legend pack or not with the MVP version, but there will be bronze and silver legends, so odds are the legend you get in the pack isn't all that good. In my opinion, it would be better to spend the extra money on the MVP because that comes with a gold starter mission, so you will be guaranteed a gold level player if you get that version.

I just got back from Walmart. Wanted to clear up the confusion on the web site and the 23rd release date. I tried to pre order it there and he said they had no way of pre-ordering it. I tried to verify that if I pre order on line, would I be able to pick it up at midnight on the 23rd. He said that they would not get any pre orders for MLB the Show 18 before the 27th? That can't be right. I asked to talk to the store manager and he was no help either. He did give me a number to the corporate office to call. 1 800 966-6546

Store employees generally know nothing until they absolutely need to know it because it doesn't interest them personally. This includes managers. Even the corporate office might not even know or care yet.

The BB pickup $1 off works this way :

When you check out, it defaults to store pickup. Instead pick the shipping option.

Then you'll see besides the store pickup option a green $1 OFF.

Go back and choose pickup at store and you get a buck off.

To some people like me, saving a buck goes a long way especially when it comes to video games which are only for entertainment value and not feeding or putting clothes on real human beings.

This is how jacked up Gamestop is.


So I called the GS I pre ordered my game from (Pre order in January) last week just to verify that i could get the game on the 23rd. I was told yes that was correct.

So I called again this evening just to be 100% sure and the guy on the phone told me no they'll have it on the 27th.


LOL these corporate companies can't get their employees on the same page.

I have absolutely no interest in reward packs or DD extras. I just preorder to play the game early. Is there anyway I can give that stuff away, or is it attached to my digital copy ?

It is not part of the $10 certificate for preordering.

Only active game for that promotion at the most moment is Far Cry 5

They just recently added CoD: BLOPS 4 (I mean IIII), and Super Smash Bros.

Sony games have not been on that promotion in a while sadly. There was none for Sony First Party last year, fingers crossed it changes this year, but with GoW and Detroit not added, it is looking bleak.

Thanks for the heads up. Going to go pre-order Smash Bros now.

And agree about Sony games. I don't figure the Show to the be part of it, but shocked that GoW wasn't on the list.

You get 20% off every pre-order game with GCU, but not the $10 reward certificate for The Show sadly.

I went to pre-order it at Gamestop like I always have, I like that I only have to pay $5 now and then the rest when I actually get the game. Twice I asked different employees about the early release and they knew nothing about it. The best part is the second time they had a huge MLB the Show 18 poster on the wall promoting First Pitch weekend! 🤣 At that point I decided I'm ordering it from the PSN store.

Why would anyone Pre-order a game in this day and age. I mean games are full of bugs and the developer testing is always done half a$$. I am not talking just about MLB I am talking about any game...lol

Well... in the case of MLB '18 it is so I can get it on the 23rd instead of the 27th.

For other games, I pre-order them to play on release day. If they are full of bugs that hinder my playing experience then I just put them on the shelf and play something else.

But 99.8% of the time the bugs don't hinder my experience so I play the games starting day one. The only game I can recall that had a bug that affected my play was NCAA Basketball 2010 on the PS3, that would freeze.
