Knowing when a base is being stolen.

When a base is being stolen, there is no true consistent feedback system. The baserunner windows often disappear. Sometimes the announcers say something about it, but it is unreliable. Sometimes they are delayed by previous lines and don't say anything until it's too late. Sometimes they don't say anything at all.

And the commentators shouldn't be relied upon for this anyway. It's pretty standard across other baseball games to have some sort of way to immediately know whether baserunners are attempting to steal. Most games just show the runners on the screen and flash their icon or move their icon to show they are stealing.

This has been a problem for well over 7 years now. I even went searching for previous threads about it and saw that I made one for the PS3 forum back in 2012.

I've not had the chance to attend any of the Twitch streams or keep a close eye on all the promo videos. Does anyone know if this is finally fixed?

The way I usually tell if someone is stealing is the crowd noise. I play with commentary off and outfield camera for pitching so that's really my only cue as well.

I dunno if anything has been changed about this for 18..I haven't heard them mention it at all.

Would be nice to get some kind of vibration on the controller or sound coming out of the controller.

Incredibly hard to tell. Especially if you’re listening to music or watching tv.

I tend to look at the crowd and if they start standing up after the pitch is started it’s a good indicator.

Agree with poster above, wish there was some controller feedback

I can hear one of the players saying "Steal, steal"

I'm totally in agreement, I really wish there was some (optional) visual feedback. I do not often play with the sound on so I generally find out after it's too late.

Granted, I know I'm making my own problem by playing with the noise off but I'm usually playing on one TV while my wife is watching TV.

I wouldn't want something not optional but a choice of some true visual feedback would be a welcome addition for me.

I’m deaf so I just have to watch the runner window. I usually don’t pay attention to the slow runners but they’re always the one surprising me. Worse is stealing from 2B, I never expect those since I use outfield view for pitching which I can see runner’s head but that’s about it, so they’re usually safe by miles.

This also affects the defensive side of things as well. Mainly playing SS or 2nd Base. You can never get a read or jump on a potential steal. There is a indicator that tells your player to run towards the base. But its just as bad as when a guy is leaning off of second and you call for the throw CPU runner is safe 100% of the time. Again making the defensive play feel all too scripted.

Waiting for the day that playing defense will feel like a harmony or freelance offense where players can read and react to what you are doing on the field. Hope it happens atleast by 2020.

Apologies for going slightly off-topic but does slide-step do anything to reduce SB attempts? I have been hesitant to use it because of the faster meter.

Indirectly by getting the ball to the plate quicker. The cpu is not going to steal less just because you use the slide step, if that is what you are asking.

When I participated in past CD events I know this Info was relayed in person in regards to some type of indicator. They at least know about the request, i guess we will see what this year brings.

I personally like the way it is at least in 17. I most noticeably know from the crowd noise even if the commentary are in a delay.

In PYS they used a quick screen flash on the first base side to give you an indicator, that worked pretty well.

I hate when a player tries to steal 3rd because half the time I just instinctively throw the ball the 2nd anyway...

Ya know, I wish there was an on/off option to have your catcher auto-throw on steal attempts, sorta like you can decide to warm up pitchers or just let them be automatically warmed.
