Re: New MLB The Show 18 Road to the show video!
As a long time RTTS player I am a little disappointed in the Caps. This is an offline mode that I always considered the arcade mode of the game. As such I am not a fan of having caps on attributes, AT ALL.
I hope they don't hamstring carry over players that may already be above those caps.
I also wonder, if you are new to the show and are not great at hitting whether you will stuck in the minors longer. I think it is the minority who find the minor league toil fun. As the offline arcade mode I think many people just want to make it to their favorite major league team while the team still resembles the team they watch in real life. Not a team that after 3 or 4 seasons has been gutted by the bad trade and retirement logic.Last edited by Dolenz; 03-07-2018, 09:26 AM.Comment

Re: New MLB The Show 18 Road to the show video!
Personally I hope they make the journey out of the minors and into the majors much more difficult and involved. I hate jumping right from AA to the bigs all of the time at 18 years old. It just ruins it a bit for me. I purposely don't spend points just to try and make my progression more realistic.
I know this puts me in the minority but I want a more realistic experience not a more arcade like one. I want the grind to feel real, I want to earn and fight to keep that spot on the major league roster. If you want to pick your team and stay there, cool. The game should allow you to do that. But I like hitting the draft and seeing where I end up. I have had some great times playing for teams I would never ever have picked to play on. I have even started a full franchise because I had so much fun with a team in RTTS.
When it is time for free agency, I love the drama. Do you sign with your current team or test the waters? Go for money or the chance to win it all. Long or short contract. What will happen if I wait? I absolutely live for it, so much fun. RTTS and Franchise are where I spend my time. Personally I want them both to be as realistic as possible.
One thing I wish they would add back in though. I loved the monthly updates from the booth while it showed you stretching or warming up on the field. I especially like when it showed you signing balls etc.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Regarding free agency, I just wish they would figure out a way to incorporate salary so it actually means something. I usually sign for a team for MUCH less money than offered, simply because it means nothing and maybe that would allow additional money to sign another free agent. Maybe now with the archetypes and attribute caps, salary can be some way of busting beyond them. Maybe more salary allows you to purchase additional upgrades or something, so you actually have incentive to seek a larger contract. I dunno...Last edited by HypoLuxa13; 03-07-2018, 09:23 AM.Comment

Performance based progression
Work out routines to increase skill cap
Actual path development for the type of player you want to be
That is all I caught after watching a 50 second video once. I am sure guys on here saw 50 things I did not.In Loving memory of my "Cricket" 1/2/96 - 11/19/2012

Re: New MLB The Show 18 Road to the show video!
It will be interesting to see if the changes make progressing up the chain harder and, if so, whether it will affect the overall amount of games played in that mode.
Yes, it may not be realistic for players to advance as quickly as they currently do in RTTS but I still think that the people who have been playing it all of these years don't want to spend 40 hours or more playing in the same fictional stadiums with the fictional minor leaguers.
While they may pick up some new players with the changes, I think it is pretty much guaranteed that they will also lose some who don't enjoy season after season of being a mediocre player in the minor leagues. It may be realistic but this is a game. It is supposed to be fun.Last edited by Dolenz; 03-07-2018, 09:38 AM.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: New MLB The Show 18 Road to the show video!
All of their posts on Facebook have gotten massive heat due to bat flips, focus on DD and recently the removal of online Franchise mode. The last few weeks have been pretty tough PR wise. Hopefully they can turn things around with the RTTS and Franchise streams. The game is too good to be getting so much hate.Comment

I can see RTTS generating some hate. Not from the Op Sports group as they are more the franchise group that prefers realism over just arcade baseball fun. For many RTTS has been the Arcade mode in this game. A place where they can create themselves and play for their favorite team. They are not wanting a huge grind or spending even more time as a mediocre player in the minor leagues.
We might not see quite the backlash though as most of the forums for the show don't have large RTTS communities in spite of it being the mode where the most games get played every year.Comment
