Please bring back these optional RTTS settings

Over the last couple of years, the dev team has removed a few RTTS options that, in my opinion, take away from the mode’s immersion and leaves me scratching my head; especially since this game has earned a positive reputation for being very option heavy.

I’m hoping that some of these optional settings make their way back in 18. If not, it doesn’t hurt to bring some attention to them, for future iterations! Here they are:

    - The option to play all fielding results, even when the ball isn’t hit to you. I don’t want to play the full pitch count, just the last pitch of every at bat. This was available before 17. Results play mode.

    - The ability to remove the red halo around the ball. I get why it’s there, but I believe this used to be optional. Really takes away from those who like to play with a ‘clean screen’.

    - Hitting R1 when playing the field gives you a zoomed in third person view of your player and the batter/pitcher. Nice for when you want to focus on an important pitch/play. Only problem is that this angle basically freezes the game. The pitcher will not throw the ball until R1 is released. Why not open it up and give RTTS players the option to continue the play, even when R1 is being pressed.

    • The ball halo! At least bring back the option to turn it off

    • R2 to dive when fielding the ball on defense. When ShowTime was introuduced it broke this function. Trying to dive with R1 is difficult for a quick reflex and definitely makes it uncomfortable to play compared to the naturual hand resting position of R2

Good one. Forgot about that issue with R2. Darn ShowTime. Thankfully we’re able to turn off the new slow motion stuff!

Never played RTTS but I was meaning to ask some questions concerning the mode in an existing RTTS thread versus starting a new thread and avoid the dreaded thread police ... LOL ... and this was one of the questions I was wondering about. So in MLB 17 RTTS you cannot play a game in the field as a position player for every batter and possibly every pitch but you could in play this way in MLB 16 and earlier? I can understand why SDS allows the fast play option for people wanted to cruise through a mult-year career. But why would they remove the ability for some to play a position just as if they were participating in a real game. That bites. What about pitchers and catchers? Can they play every pitch? For sure if I wanted to play as a RTTS starting pitcher I would want to be able to throw every pitch in the game while I was in the game and one would think the same would apply if I wanted to play catcher. Yeah as a starting pitcher I don't need to play the games on my days off, but on the days I am scheduled to pitch I would want to be able to throw every pitch until I get the hook from the manager. Oh and does a CPU manage pull the hook? or is it up to you to pull yourself from the game.

Sorry if some of these questions are silly. I have never played the mode.

I can answer the pitcher questions as I love having a pitching file in addition to my OF one. As a pitcher you throw every pitch you're on the mound for, and the CPU manager will pull the hook.

I would also love to see the option to use the outfield camera that focused on the ball in flight from earlier games.

Sidenote: Does anybody else miss the newspaper function from the ps3 days? It was an easy way to check up on the league and I enjoyed seeing my player on the cover when he had a great game. I can only imagine how much more detailed they could make it now that they have access to considerably more stats up front.
