I usually judge by hits and amount of runs being realistic (on both sides) for the talent available. I have a pretty good slider set that yields realistic results.

I've never controlled more than one team either, just always worried about mine and let the league balance as it may. I started my Franchise in MLB 13 with anticipation of carrying it over with new Y2Y saves. That said, players like Kris Bryant, George Springer, Carlos Correa, Noah Sydnegaard, etc. are actually CAPS (from OSFM '13) in my franchise, but have progressed pretty true-to-life in game. Another thing I did before each series to make it more interesting, was to go into the CPU roster and refresh all the CAPS appearances and equipment, to be more accurate. I never adjust attributes though. For my team, it's fun watching certain players develop, as well as watching players I've traded or faced develop over time.

I guess, I am sort of "redirecting" my OCD to other areas, lol.

    Edit:

Here's a few of Franchise videos, from the same franchise. I think they do a good job of showing how both my Franchise, and the game has evolved over the years. My CAP Springer in MLB 17 looks totally different than the one in MLB 14.

    Spoiler

I am exactly the same as you, I think if I had 30 team control that would ruin it for me, and I am always trying to make all the other caps as realistic as I can with editing, only not attributes. One thing I am really hoping we can do in the future is imput the face scan on to our caps, but maybe that's impossible to do who knows

Same here, obviously there are some frustrating times but the only time I find it real hard to not quit the game is when I actually have the controller slip, like a actually do soemthing really stupid in the feild (like accidentally click the dive button so they roll a base hit past my infielder lying on the ground) but then I just make up a story in my head like the guy tripped and that helps

They aren't fun, but without them, it would not be a realistic baseball season. Embrace the challenge! Embrace the days you feel "off" as part of the game.

That being said, I would offer one piece of advice - don't play when you know you're going to be getting tired soon, or not in the mood to play. Dont feel like you have to get a game in. I've been there and regretted it. Also every time I try to "squeeze in" a game an hour before bed, it turns out to be a marathon game, I get tired and frustrated and hate the game for a night. Then I blame the game for what was actually my fault lol. The game will wait on you and be there for you the next night.
My games AAALWAYS go into extra innings when I'm short on time
