It’s cool too when the pitcher gives up 7 runs in the first and you know.. you know it’s not you, it’s them....Classic Pitching, HOF difficulty, no visual aides whatsoever.
Clean Screen and purely ratings driven but....I love the feel and nuances of classic pitching. There is an art to pitching with it. I absolutely love it. It also gives you that true dice roll table top Strato-Matic/Statis Pro feel that even great pitchers can have really bad days. And #5 starters can come up with some gem games.
It's awesome.

Meter normally. But classic if I want to enable the silky smooth soap opera effect. I usually just pitch and field when I play that way.Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
I pitch on HoF with Pulse pitching.
I find pulse to be the best combination of attributes and user input, personally. Attributes effect a lot, including the speed of the pulse, how small/large it can get and how accurate it is to to the pitch coming in. But the pulse itself is something you control as a player, and I find that aspect challenging and rewarding without being overly complicated.
I don't know exactly all of the attributes effects, but I do know BB/9 effects how small it can get and Control effects how accurate your result will be. They actually started visualizing this, so when you finish your input, sometimes a random amount will be added to your circle. How much and how often depends on your control attribute.Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
I love analog pitching the most, but as others said it's way too easy to throw strikes. I recently got tired of always leading the league with fewest walks allowed, so I switched to Meter/Pulse. I switch between the two depending on my mood.
It's not as fun (imo) and a lot harder, but the results are way more realistic and I have more fun in the long run... I'm now experiencing actual ebbs and flows in pitching and times where I can't find the strike zone at all. I never had a reliever enter the game only to immediately walk 2 straight guys until I stopped using Analog Pitching.
One of the things near the top of my wishlist is that SCEA fixes analog pitching. Instead of missed pitches always ending up meatballs down the center, a lot more pitches should just miss the strike zone entirely. Every year that I've used Analog Pitching I'd finish every game with like 100 pitches thrown and 90 strikes. Even in games I lost, even in blowouts, I'd always have significantly fewer total pitches, balls, and walks than I should.Last edited by Bobhead; 03-18-2018, 10:46 AM.Comment

Classic, have been using it for years. I also loved analog pitching when it was first introduced but unfortunately they do not seem too interested in taking it to the next level. Actually I see this a lot with their mechanics, they stagnate for way too long in their current state. Analog could be so much more!
Actually a pitching mechanic I enjoy is in Super mega baseball, it's simple but actually very satisfying in that it offers good varied results.Last edited by nemesis04; 03-18-2018, 03:02 PM.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
Played the last few years with meter going from AS to HOF as my skills improved.
To freshen up the feel of the game on the pitching side of things, I decided about a week ago to switch back to classic (played it years ago) and let ratings be the key. I’m truly enjoying the challenge on HOF and again learning the subtleties of this pitching option. It’s not just locate and press. Plus it allows me to “watch” the pitcher’s motion, whereas with meter I would miss the early portions of the windup due to concentrating on the meter. Loving the switch back so far.
Definitely gonna roll with Classic for this year’s game and I’m itching to “take the mound” once ‘18 gets in my hands next weekend.Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
I always figured nobody used pulse but me (figuratively speaking of course) so it's nice to not only hear others using it but to also see they use it for the same reasons I do. Definitely sticking to it this year now that I don't feel so alone on it lol.Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
Yes, generally it is out of the zone or in the general area you missed. It drives me nuts how the show treats missed inputs or late inning fatigue by gravitating many of the pitches to the center of the zone.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Classic, no hot/cold zones, no pitched ball marker.Comment

Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?
Online and RTTS I split between Analog and meter. I prefer analog but too many times the R stick flick up doesn't seem to register.
For franchise I use Classic (HOF+) for the ratings. I used to use meter years ago but could never tweak the sliders so that I could get the walks where I wanted them (without every mislocated ball getting hammered and giving up 10 r/9). Pulse gives me a headache. I eventually settled on classic but I still always lead the league in fewest walks allowed.Comment
