Re: What Pitching Options do you use and why?

Used meter forever, went to analog for a year, suggested improvements that never went into fruition, tried classic for a year and it was fine, but it felt like my input didn't really mean much and couldn't account for where I was missing and for what reason. Went back to meter again.

Tried pulse for like a second, and beyond anything else it felt like a laggy response. Just didn't like it anyway. Never again will I try it. Glad to see developers don't take much to it either when demonstrating the game too.

I tried pulse but it literally gave me a headache.

        Classic, for a few reasons

        1. I like how it relies on ratings (and I can adjust the control and consistency sliders to increase my walk numbers)
        2. It keeps the screen clean
        3. It takes less time to execute
        4. I didn't like how the timing was different for different pitchers based on their wind up. I remember trading Ted Lilly from the Cubs simply because I hated pitching with him. The meter took so long because of his motion. I would hit it too early, haha.

Classic and Broadcast camera. Usually bounce between All-Star and HOF (use Dynamic Difficulty).

Meter for me. For some human reason pulse pitching really messes with my eyes

Have always used meter, but the last few years pitching had been laughably easy. Thinking about using classic this year to see if it is anymore difficult. But. Don’t know if I feel like taking the time to get used to a new pitching interface.

I've also always used meter pitching but never give up a realistic number of walks and think I will try classic this year. My thanks to KBLover for explaining some of the nuances of it. Anyone else with advice to add, please do.

Little tip for the guys who want to stay on meter but are feeling like they're too pinpoint with their pitches (I'm seeing a lot of that in this thread) - move up in difficulty, and nudge the CPU's contact down a click or two if necessary. This will make it harder to locate your pitches precisely, and the contact drop is to compensate for the CPU's hitting getting easier.

This is why I moved to Legend on Meter - it's not possible for me to locate perfectly on that level, which means I have to aim more to the edges (or even off the plate), to avoid throwing meatballs. That means walking guys when I didn't mean to, but it also means getting swinging strikeouts on pitches slightly out of the zone.

Analog legend for me and I like others feel it’s far too easy. Really hope the devs can comment more about the specifics of the difficulty increase for 18

I use the meter method. I was so happy when SDS bought this to there game. I used it in EA sports, if that's correct. It is the only thing that doesn't make my screen clean during game play and I don't mind it one bit.

I always used meter until they completely ruined it by making it random much more of the time. Have to use analog now. The amount of perfect releases that went nowhere near where I was aiming with meter got to be too much.

Analog, closest to gesture pitching from MLB 2K. It is easier to spot pitches, but turning control to 0 and making the AI batters good keeps my walks pretty decent.

Ramone said somewhere it should be harder to throw strikes this year, which should be great news for me.
